Nextie Fat Bike Disc Brake Carbon Wheelset
The Nextie fat bike carbon wheelset covers the Nextie Fat Bike rims from the 55mm Xiphias up to the 90mm Wild Dragon, in 26in, 27.5in and 29in. Carbon is worth more on a fat bike than almost anywhere else: these are the widest, heaviest rims on any bicycle, and taking several hundred grams out of each one changes how the bike accelerates and how it handles at the low pressures fat tires run.
Nextie laces, tensions and trues the wheel in Xiamen and ships it complete on Rollingstar II Fatbike hubs with Sapim spokes.
Design and construction
Xiphias is the single-wall Fat Bike rim and the lightest of the group, offered from 55mm to 105mm outside width with internal beds from 49mm to 99mm. The single-wall construction is what keeps the weight down at those widths, and the rims are drilled with large cut-outs for the same reason.
Wild Dragon III is the double-wall rim at 90mm wide on an 83mm internal bed, in 26in and 27.5in. Double-wall construction puts more material between the spoke bed and the tire bed, which is the choice for heavier riders and harder use.
All of them are drilled 32 hole and built with Sapim spokes and black alloy nipples. The hub is the Rollingstar II Fatbike, 15x150mm front and 12x197mm rear with a six-bolt disc interface and a 36T ratchet.
How it rides
Fat Bike tires at 5 to 8psi do most of the suspension work, so the thing you notice about a lighter fat wheel is rotational weight. Getting a fat bike up to speed and back after every soft patch is where the effort goes, and carbon rims take a meaningful bite out of that.
Width here is about float rather than cornering support. A 79 to 99mm internal bed spreads a 4.8in or 5in tire into a flatter, longer contact patch, which is what keeps the bike on top of soft snow and sand. Narrower beds around 49 to 64mm suit 3.8in to 4.5in tires and a bike that spends more of its time on firm ground.
Because the rims are offered in three diameters, the same listing covers a traditional 26in fat bike, a 27.5in fat or plus build and a 29in build.

Fit and compatibility
Choose a front wheel, a rear wheel or a matched pair, then the rim and the spoke. Fitment is 15x150mm front and 12x197mm rear, six-bolt disc, with Shimano HG, SRAM XD or Micro Spline freehub bodies on the rear. Drilling is 32 hole and a front wheel takes no driver.
Rim finish is UD Matte or UD Glossy. Decals are optional in outline white, solid white, solid black, glossy solid black, sunset, sky blue, lilac or chromium. The hub is black.
Fat Bike axle standards vary more than any other category, so confirm your frame and fork spacing before ordering. If your bike uses 170 or 177mm rear spacing rather than 197mm, this factory wheel is not the right fit and we should build you one instead.

Nextie builds these wheels to order in Xiamen; allow roughly two weeks plus transit. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia and a Nextie dealer. We do not manufacture these wheels, Nextie does, and the factory warranty is theirs.
We also sell every fat rim on its own and lace it here to the hub of your choice. For fat bikes that is a common route, because the frame standards are so varied and because a rider who wants a specific hub, a dynamo front or a particular spoke count is better served by a custom build.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nextie warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nextie and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. This is a complete wheelset built by its manufacturer rather than in our shop, so the maker's warranty above is the one that applies to it. ProWheelBuilder's own one-year wheel warranty covers the wheels we build. We will still handle a manufacturer claim on your behalf.

Fat Bike Disc Brake Carbon questions
Single-wall or double-wall?
Xiphias is single-wall and lighter; Wild Dragon III is double-wall with more material between the spoke bed and the tire bed. Heavier riders and harder use point to the double-wall rim.
Which width do I need?
Match the internal bed to the tire. Beds around 49 to 64mm suit 3.8 to 4.5in tires; 79 to 99mm beds are for 4.8 to 5in tires on soft snow and sand.
Will they fit my fat bike?
The factory wheel is built for 15x150mm front and 12x197mm rear. If your frame uses different spacing, tell us and we will build a wheel that fits instead.
Can I run them tubeless?
Yes. Tape and valves are not included, and on a wide fat rim we would recommend having the tubeless setup done by a shop that has the right tape width on hand.
Do they come in 27.5in?
Yes, in 26in, 27.5in and 29in depending on the rim.
