Nextie Road carbon rim
The Nextie Road is a full carbon fiber rim for road riding and racing, from all-day climbing rims to deep aero sections. Premium is Nextie's all-round layup: a little more material than Supreme for a rim that shrugs off rock strikes and seasons of use. Nextie designs and molds the rim; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. We build the rim into a complete wheel: pick the hub, spokes, nipples and lacing in the configurator and it ships laced, tensioned and trued.
Sizes, weights and prices
21 sizes in 700c. Rim weights are Nextie's published figures per size; ERD is the effective rim diameter we cut spokes to.

What the designations mean
Every size in the list carries Nextie's own series code so you can tell the profiles apart. Here is what they mean.
| Supreme | Nextie's lightest layup - the least material that still meets the rim's strength target. Choose it when grams matter most. |
|---|---|
| Premium | The all-round layup: a little more carbon than Supreme, for a rim that shrugs off rock strikes and seasons of hard use. |
| CRX | Premium road, 21mm inner - narrower bed for 25-28mm tires, 33 to 70mm deep. |
| RX | Premium road, 19mm inner - the narrowest road bed, for 23-25mm tires. |
| ARX-W / CRX-W | The -W suffix is Nextie's wave-edge profile: the rim's outer edge undulates to keep a deep section steady in crosswinds. ARX-W is the 23.5mm-inner version, CRX-W the 21mm. |
Material and construction
Every size is molded from carbon fiber in Nextie's Xiamen factory, in a UD (unidirectional) weave with a matte finish. Premium is Nextie's all-round layup: a little more material than Supreme for a rim that shrugs off rock strikes and seasons of use. The rim bed is tubeless-ready, and a Nextie Road rim is stiffer laterally than an aluminum rim of the same weight, which is what makes a light carbon wheel feel precise under power. Nextie rates these sizes for a maximum system weight of 136 kg; 137 kg; 139 kg; 141 kg; 142 kg; 144 kg; 146 kg; 147 kg; 149 kg; 151 kg; 152 kg; 154 kg; 156 kg; 159 kg; 162 kg; 163 kg; 164 kg; 167 kg; 169 kg; 171 kg; 174 kg; 181 kg (rider plus bike and gear).
Weight
Weights run from 330g for the 30MM DEEP ARX (23.5MM INNER) to 590g for the 85MM DEEP ARX (23.5MM INNER). Rim weight is rotating weight at the outside of the wheel, so every gram saved here is felt more than a gram saved on the frame. Inner widths of 19mm, 21mm, 22mm, 23.5mm, 25mm decide the tire: narrower beds suit road and gravel tires that want a rounder profile.
Value
Nextie molds its own rims and sells factory-direct, with no distributor or brand-marketing margin built into the price. The material and the construction are the same full carbon fiber, UD layup and tubeless-ready bed found on rims that cost two to three times as much from the big-name brands - the Nextie Road simply skips the layers of mark-up between the mold and your wheel.
Because we sell the Nextie Road only inside a wheel we build, that saving carries through the whole wheel: we lace it to the hub you choose, cut spokes to the measured ERD of the exact size, tension and true it by hand, and stand behind the build. You end up with a hand-built carbon wheel at a price most brands ask for the rim alone, and the current per-size price is always shown live in the configurator.
How we build it
Choose the size and wheel diameter, then a drilling (20h, 24h, 28h, 32h, 36h), and the configurator only offers hubs, spokes and lacing patterns that can actually be built with that combination. Sizes that are not made in a given drilling or diameter are struck through rather than hidden, so you can see the whole range. Use the Custom Wheel Program to start from this rim, or send us a rim you already own with the supply-your-own option.
Build it into a wheel
This rim is live in our Custom Wheel Program for gravel and road disc, track and road single-speed, touring, tandem and e-bike and road rim brake builds. Start a build with the Nextie Road Carbon Rim and the configurator opens with this exact rim pinned at the top of the Nextie list — you choose the rest of the parts and it validates every combination as you go.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nextie warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nextie and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Any wheel we build on this part carries ProWheelBuilder's one-year warranty in addition to the manufacturer's. Broken spokes are replaced for a year whatever the cause, and all wheel-side labor is included - truing, re-tensioning, rebuilding. Where the maker covers a failed rim or hub we handle that claim for you; where they decline, an eligible replacement comes at 25% off current retail. The customer covers shipping in both directions. Components supplied by the customer are not covered.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Nextie Road questions
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Nextie Road?
No. Nextie designs and manufactures the rim. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia: we buy the rim from Nextie and build it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Can I buy the Nextie Road on its own?
No. We supply Nextie rims only as part of a wheel we build, so every rim is laced, tensioned and trued here before it ships.
Which spoke count should I choose?
It depends on your weight, terrain and the hub, not on the rim alone. The configurator recommends a count from your bike type and rider weight, within the 20h, 24h, 28h, 32h, 36h this rim is drilled for.
Is the Nextie Road tubeless-ready?
Yes. Nextie builds the rim bed tubeless-ready; we tape and fit a valve when you choose the tubeless option in the build.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
