Nox Composites Farlow Trail Enduro Rim
The Nox Composites Farlow Trail/Enduro is the Farlow in its toughest layup: the same 29mm-class carbon trail rim from Knoxville, Tennessee, with the same asymmetric spoke bed and wide hookless bead, reinforced for enduro impacts. It is the Farlow for riders who race enduro, ride bike park on a trail bike, or simply keep breaking lighter rims, and it is Nox's toughest 29in and 27.5in trail rim.
This page covers the Nox Composites Farlow Trail Enduro Rim in 29in, 27.5in. The Farlow Trail/Enduro is sold here only inside a wheel we build: choose the hub, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia, laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The Farlow is designed around a 29mm-class inner width that suits 2.3 to 2.5in trail tires, with a hookless bead wall that is thick and rounded so a rock strike squeezes the tire rather than cutting it. The spoke bed is offset, which on a Boost rear brings drive-side and non-drive-side tension close to equal and on a front balances the rotor side; it is the reason these wheels stay true. The layup adds material at the bead and spoke bed, where carbon rims fail, and keeps the section shallow enough to give a little vertically.
How it rides
A Farlow Trail/Enduro wheel is stiff, damped and hard to hurt. It takes the square-edged hits and flat landings of enduro racing, the wide bead keeps a 2.5in tire on the rim at low pressure, and the offset rear stays true. It is a little heavier than the standard Farlow, which you will not notice on the descent.
For lighter trail riding the standard Farlow is quicker; for plus tires and downhill the Kitsuma is wider. For enduro on a 29in or 27.5in bike, the Farlow Trail/Enduro is the rim we recommend.

This version
This version is the Farlow Trail Enduro in 29in, 27.5in, drilled 28h, 32h, 36h, about 470g, 29mm inside, 25mm deep, disc. Where the same rim is sold in another size or brake type, that is a separate listing with its own page.
This is the disc-brake Farlow Trail Enduro: plain sidewalls, no brake track to wear, a touch lighter. It fits any disc-brake bike and it is the version most of our customers now build; the rim-brake version is a separate listing.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Nox Composites Farlow Trail Enduro Rim comes in 29in, 27.5in and 28h, 32h, 36h drilling. It is a disc-brake rim. We build the Farlow Trail/Enduro on Industry Nine Hydra 2 and 1/1, DT Swiss 350 and 240, Hope Pro 5, Onyx Vesper and Chris King MTB hubs, usually with Sapim Race, D-Light or CX-Sprint spokes or DT Competition, and brass nipples; Sapim Strong on the drive side for e-bikes.
Tire range on the Farlow Trail/Enduro is 2.3 to 2.6in, tubeless-ready tires only on the hookless bead. The configurator recommends spoke count and lacing from your bike type and weight.
Put it in a custom wheel
Build a custom wheel around the Nox Composites Farlow Trail Enduro Rim — the link drops you into our Custom Wheel Program with this rim pinned, ready for you to choose the rest. It is set up for mountain bike, MTB single-speed and fat bike builds.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
How Nox Composites tests its rims
Nox Composites is based in Knoxville, Tennessee. Nox states that its products are designed and tested there, that the rims are produced by a partner manufacturer in Asia using Nox's molds and layup schedule, and that the carbon is Toray fiber from Japan; wheels are handbuilt in Tennessee. Nox states that "manufacturing and quality control is held to extremely high standards including regular destructive and nondestructive testing." The one published figure is spoke pull-through strength, which Nox states is "somewhere north of 880 Lbf." Nox publishes no impact-joule or fatigue-cycle figures and cites no ISO or UCI protocol.
Warranty: Nox's website states its wheels and rims are guaranteed free from defects in materials or workmanship for as long as the original owner owns them, non-transferable, with proof of purchase and rim serial number required; older printed instructions state a 2-year term. A rock-strike policy covers rim replacement for the first two years, judged by Nox engineers, and a lifetime crash replacement program offers a reduced-price rim or rebuild to the original owner.

The figures, certificates and media above are Nox Composites's own. ProWheelBuilder does not run these tests; our part is the wheel we build on the rim.
Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Nox makes the Farlow Trail Enduro; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. Spokes are cut from the ERD we measure on the actual rim, the wheel comes up in stages on a tensiometer, and it is stress-relieved and trued before it goes in the box; tape and a valve go on if you ask.
The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nox Composites warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nox Composites and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Lace this into a wheel here and the finished wheel gets our own one-year warranty as well as the maker's. For twelve months we replace broken spokes however they broke, and the work on the wheel is on us - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild where it is needed. If the rim or hub is covered by its manufacturer we put the claim in and chase it; if it is not, we supply an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off the current retail price. Carriage both ways is the customer's, and this does not cover wheels built from parts you send in.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Farlow Trail Enduro Rim questions
What tire width suits this rim?
At 29mm inside this is a trail width, sized around 2.1 to 2.4in tires. That is wide enough to stop a modern trail casing rolling under you in a corner without pushing the tread so flat that it wears down the middle.
Which spokes and nipples suit the Farlow Trail Enduro?
For most riders a double-butted spoke such as Sapim Race or DT Competition with brass nipples; lighter riders can go to Sapim Laser or CX-Ray. The configurator recommends a gauge and count for the Farlow Trail Enduro from your bike type and weight.
What is the difference between the Farlow and the Farlow Trail/Enduro?
Layup. The Trail/Enduro version adds material for enduro impacts and weighs a little more; the standard Farlow is the lighter trail rim.
Is the Farlow hookless?
Yes. Use tubeless-ready tires and stay under the maximum pressure printed on the rim, which for a trail tire is far above what you would run anyway.
Who is Nox Composites?
A small rim company in Knoxville, Tennessee that designs carbon rims for custom wheel builders, with a lifetime warranty on its rims.
What tires fit the Farlow?
2.3 to 2.5in. A 2.4in trail tire is the pairing most of our customers run.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Nox Composites Farlow Trail Enduro Rim?
No. Nox Composites makes the rim. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia that builds it into a finished wheel to your spec.
