Chromag BA30 V2 Rim
The Chromag BA30 V2 is a 30mm-wide aluminum rim built for enduro racing, bike park laps and downhill riding: tubeless ready, disc brake only, 32 hole, 640 grams in 29in and 610 grams in 27.5in. Chromag calls it its most aggressive aluminum rim, proven on some of the roughest tracks in the world.
This page covers the BA30 V2 in both wheel sizes, in black or silver. It is built to order here: choose the hub, spokes and nipples in the configurator, and we lace, tension and true the wheel by hand in Georgia.
Design and construction
The V2 update gives the BA30 a taller, 19mm profile and an internal bridge inside the section. Chromag's aim is lateral stiffness for tracking through rock gardens and resistance to flat spots from big vertical hits, without adding weight. The 36mm outer width and the heavy-duty bead wall, about twice as wide as most rims with a large outer radius, spread an impact and protect the tire sidewall.
The rim is extruded from premium aluminum, and the seam is fusion welded and precision ground, which Chromag says makes the joint the strongest part of the rim. The spoke bed is angled to match each spoke so the spoke and nipple run straight. It takes standard external nipples and J-bend or straight-pull spokes, whichever the hub calls for.
How it rides
A 30mm inner width supports a 2.4 to 2.6in enduro or downhill tire with a stable, square profile that holds its shape at low pressure in off-camber turns and braking bumps. The low, high-volume internal shape still gives some compliance, which Chromag credits for traction on technical ground.
Pick the BA30 V2 for e-bikes, heavier riders, bike park days and anyone who has flat-spotted a lighter rim. Paired with a Phase30 up front it also makes a sensible mixed set for a hard-hitting trail bike.

Which version this is
What this listing covers: the BA30 V2 in 29in and 27.5in, 32 hole, in black or silver, chosen in the configurator.
The BA30 V2 replaces the original BA30 with a taller, internally reinforced section. For a lighter trail build, Chromag's Phase30 keeps the same 30mm width in a 17mm section.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The ERD changes with the diameter, so we cut spokes for the size you choose: 600mm in 29in and 563mm in 27.5in. Both sizes fit enduro, downhill and e-mountain bike frames, including mixed-wheel bikes with a 29in front and a 27.5in rear.
We build it on 32 hole Boost and standard-spacing disc hubs, 6-bolt or Centerlock, usually with Sapim Race or Leader spokes and brass nipples. Choose mountain bike, e-bike or fat and plus bike as the bike type, and the configurator recommends a lacing pattern.
Put it in a custom wheel
Build a custom wheel around the Chromag Ba30 V2 Rim — the link drops you into our Custom Wheel Program with this rim pinned, ready for you to choose the rest. It is set up for tandem and e-bike, mountain bike, MTB single-speed and fat bike builds.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
Chromag's specifications and limits
Chromag designs and rides its products in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia and publishes these limits for the BA30 V2: 125 kgf maximum spoke tension, 45 psi maximum with a 2.4in tire and 30 psi with a 2.8in tire, plus the ERD and weight of each size. It does not publish impact or fatigue test results, so ask us if you need a figure confirmed. Chromag covers its components, rims included, for two years against defects in materials and workmanship.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Chromag makes the BA30 V2; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. Each wheel is built the same way: spokes cut to length for your size from Chromag's ERD, staged tensioning with a gauge and kept under Chromag's 125 kgf limit, stress relief and a final true, with tubeless tape on request.
The configurator shows only hubs and spokes that match the 32 hole BA30 V2, strikes through anything that is out of stock, and prices the wheel live.
Warranty
Chromag's warranty. Chromag warrants its components, its rims among them, against defects in materials and workmanship for two years from first purchase, to the original owner; the warranty is not transferable. Normal wear, corrosion, crash damage, improper installation and lack of maintenance are not covered, though Chromag assesses crash damage case by case and may offer a crash-replacement discount.
ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.

BA30 V2 Rim questions
What tires suit the BA30 V2?
2.4 to 2.6in enduro and downhill tires; Chromag lists pressure limits for tires up to 2.8in.
Is the BA30 V2 tubeless?
Yes, it is tubeless ready. Choose tubeless tape in the configurator and use a tubeless-ready tire.
What changed from the original BA30?
The V2 is taller, 19mm against the original's lower profile, with an internal bridge for strength against flat spots, at a similar weight.
BA30 V2 or Phase30?
Both are 30mm inside. The BA30 V2 is the tougher, heavier rim for enduro and downhill; the Phase30 is lighter for trail and all-mountain riding.
Which colors are there?
Black and silver, in both 29in and 27.5in.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer?
No. Chromag makes the rim. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia that builds it into a wheel to your spec.
