ENVE Composites SES 100 PRO Disc Front Clincher Rim

The ENVE SES 100 PRO is a 100mm-deep front rim for time trials and triathlon, where holding speed alone against the clock is the whole job. ENVE designed it as the front partner to its SES Disc PRO rear, with a 22mm internal width and a profile aero-tuned around a 28mm tire. At 590 grams it is light for its depth, and the shape is meant to stay manageable in the crosswinds that make most deep fronts a handful. This page covers the ENVE Composites SES 100 PRO Disc Front Clincher Rim.

The SES 100 PRO is sold here only inside a custom build: choose the hub, spokes and nipples in the configurator and we lace, tension and true it by hand in Georgia.

Design and construction

A front rim this deep lives or dies on stability. ENVE's Smart ENVE System work with aerodynamicist Simon Smart, which goes back to 2009, starts from that problem: shape the front for predictable steering in a crosswind first, then chase drag. The SES 100 PRO applies it at the deepest depth ENVE makes, and ENVE tuned the profile around a modern 28mm tire, so the tire and rim form one aero shape instead of a narrow tire perched on a wide rim.

The internal width is 22mm, the rim is 24-hole, and it is tubeless-compatible: ENVE specifies tubeless-ready tires only, from 25mm up, with a 100 psi maximum.

How it rides

On a time-trial course the SES 100 PRO is about free speed on the flats and in long, steady efforts. Riders who use it describe it as handling more like a 60 to 70mm front in corners than its depth suggests, which is the point of shaping it for stability.

It is a specialist rim. For road racing, crits and anything with real climbing, the SES 4.5 PRO or SES 6.7 PRO make more sense. For time trials and triathlon, paired with a rear disc, the SES 100 PRO is the deepest front ENVE makes.

This listing

This is the front rim of the SES 100 PRO: 100mm deep, 22mm wide inside, hookless, about 590g, 24-hole, disc only. It is made as a front rim only and is meant to pair with a rear disc.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

The ENVE Composites SES 100 PRO Disc Front Clincher Rim is a 24-hole, 700c, disc-brake front rim. ENVE recommends 27 to 28mm tires with a 25mm minimum and a 100 psi maximum, tubeless-ready tires only. It is a front-only rim; there is no rear version. We build it on front hubs from ENVE, Chris King, DT Swiss, Industry Nine and White Industries, usually with Sapim CX-Ray or DT Aerolite spokes.

Check your frame and fork rules before you race it: time-trial and triathlon governing bodies set their own equipment rules, and a 100mm front is not legal in every event.

Put it in a custom wheel

Build a custom wheel around the ENVE Composites SES 100 PRO Disc Front Clincher Rim — the link opens our Custom Wheel Program with this rim pinned, ready for you to choose the rest. It is set up for gravel and road disc builds.

Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.

What ENVE says about testing

ENVE designs, molds and tests its carbon rims in Ogden, Utah. The PRO road rims were developed with World Tour racers and built to comply with the UCI's equipment rules. ENVE publishes a 100 psi maximum pressure and a minimum tire width for each rim, and approves tires against its own retention standard, which it describes as stricter than the ISO 4210 test.

Everything in this section is published by ENVE Composites. ProWheelBuilder is the builder, not the tester.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

ENVE makes the SES 100 PRO; ProWheelBuilder is an independent builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer, and the factory warranty rides with the rim. Every SES 100 PRO build is tensioned in stages with a gauge to the factory specification, stress-relieved and trued before it ships, with spoke lengths confirmed on the rim before it is laced. Tubeless tape and a valve are fitted on request.

The configurator shows only front hubs and spokes that match the 24-hole drilling, strikes through combinations that are not offered, and prices the build live.

Warranty

ENVE Composites's warranty. ENVE gives the original owner a five-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, alongside its Lifetime Incident Protection program, which covers rims, forks, bars, stems, seatposts and hubs damaged in riding incidents.

ProWheelBuilder. Lace this into a wheel here and the finished wheel gets our own one-year warranty as well as the maker's. For twelve months we replace broken spokes however they broke, and the work on the wheel is on us - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild where it is needed. If the rim or hub is covered by its manufacturer we put the claim in and chase it; if it is not, we supply an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off the current retail price. Carriage both ways is the customer's, and this does not cover wheels built from parts you send in.

Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.

SES 100 PRO questions

Is there a rear SES 100 PRO?

No. It is a front-only rim, designed to pair with a rear disc for time trials and triathlon.

What tires does it take?

Tubeless-ready tires from 25mm, aero-tuned for 27 to 28mm, with a 100 psi maximum.

Is a 100mm front hard to handle?

ENVE shaped it for crosswind stability first; riders describe it as handling more like a 60 to 70mm front in corners.

Is it legal for racing?

Check the rules of your event: time-trial and triathlon bodies set their own equipment rules.

How long will the build take?

Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.

Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
