Nextie Standard DH carbon wheelset
A complete wheelset built around the Standard DH rim. Nextie laces a pair of Standard DH rims to its own Rollingstar II MTB Boost hubs with Sapim spokes and black alloy nipples, in the 40mm wide size, tensions and trues both wheels in its Xiamen factory and ships the pair complete.
ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia and a Nextie dealer, not the manufacturer: we sell the wheelset and check your axle, freehub and size choices before the order goes in.
Building your pair
Every Nextie Standard DH wheelset is sold as a front and rear pair, and you choose the front and rear wheel size separately. A mixed-wheel (mullet) build with a 29in front and a 27.5in rear is offered; the front is never smaller than the rear, so a 27.5in front with a 29in rear is not built. The rear follows the front until you pick a different size.
Sizes, wheelset weights and prices
Wheelset weight is the complete pair as built: both rims, spokes, nipples and the hub set, from the lightest spoke and hub choice to the heaviest. Prices are for a matched pair on the least expensive hub; mixed front and rear pairs are priced from the two rims you choose.
| Size | Wheel | Inner width | Depth | Tire range | Rim weight | Wheelset weight | Drilling | Wheelset price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DH 40 | 29in, 27.5in, 26in | 31mm | - | 2.1-2.85in | 590g | 1650-1848g | 28H, 32H | from $976 |
The rim
The DH is the downhill rim in Nextie's Standard edition: full Toray T700 carbon in a thicker layup, a 31mm inner width, 590 grams, drilled 28 or 32 holes. It is the budget way onto a carbon gravity wheel, with a two-year warranty.
Standard is Nextie's baseline edition: full Toray T700 carbon, the standard spoke-bed layup, roundness and flatness within 0.25mm, and a 2-year factory warranty - reliable and cost-effective. UCI wheel approval applies to road, cyclocross and gravel racing, not mountain biking; the approvals listed on the rim page are Nextie's road and gravel certificates, from the same factory and test lab. Nextie rates this rim for a maximum system weight of 132 kg (rider plus bike and gear). The Nextie Standard DH rim page carries Nextie's published lab results, test videos and certificates in full.
Hubs, spokes and drive
Hub choices: Nextie Rollingstar II MTB Boost 15x110 / 12x148, 36, 45 or 54-tooth engagement, Centerlock or 6-bolt rotor mount. The hub sets the drilling, 28H or 32H, and both wheels use the same set.
Spokes are Sapim: the round Race (2.0/1.8mm double-butted) for durability, or the bladed CX-Ray for less weight and drag, both with black alloy nipples. Freehub bodies: Shimano MTB (HG), SRAM XD, Micro Spline 12S.
Finish: matte carbon only. Decals: None, Outline White, Solid Black.
Other Nextie mountain bike wheelsets
Supreme Omega 36 (30mm inner, from 1250g); Supreme Omega 36U (30mm inner, from 1070g); Premium VM (30mm inner, from 1110g); Premium XD DH (30mm inner, from 1628g); Standard AM (34mm inner, from 1450g)
Value
Alloy downhill rims dent and get replaced; carbon takes the same hit and stays round.
Ordering and lead time
Nextie builds each wheelset to order in Xiamen, so allow roughly two weeks for the build plus transit. The price at the top of the page is the complete wheelset as configured. Want a single wheel, a different hub, other spokes, or a wheel laced here in Georgia? Build it in the Custom Wheel Program, which opens with the Nextie Standard DH rim already selected.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nextie warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nextie and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. This is a complete wheelset built by its manufacturer rather than in our shop, so the maker's warranty above is the one that applies to it. ProWheelBuilder's own one-year wheel warranty covers the wheels we build. We will still handle a manufacturer claim on your behalf.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Nextie Standard DH wheelset questions
Is the DH strong enough for bike-park riding?
It is Nextie's thicker Standard layup, built and rated for downhill, with a 132kg maximum system weight. For heavier riders, the Premium XD is rated higher.
Should I choose the DH or the XD?
Choose the DH for value and the XD for a stiffer, more refined Premium layup with a higher system-weight rating. The XD is drilled 32-hole only; the DH comes in 28 or 32.
Can I build a mullet Nextie Standard DH wheelset?
Yes: choose a 29in front and a 27.5in rear. The front is never smaller than the rear, so the reverse is not offered.
Can I buy one Standard DH wheel on its own?
Not from this page: the factory-built wheelset is sold as a pair. A single front or rear wheel on this rim can be built in the Custom Wheel Program.
Which hub should I choose?
All three are Rollingstar II; pick by engagement (36, 45 or 54 teeth) and by rotor mount (Centerlock or 6-bolt).
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Nextie Standard DH?
No. Nextie designs and manufactures the rims and hubs and builds this wheelset in Xiamen. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia and a Nextie dealer: we sell it, check your choices before the order goes in and handle any warranty claim.
