Nextie Supreme Omega 36U carbon rim
The Omega 36U is the light Omega: the same 30mm inner width and Supreme T1000 construction as the Omega 36, cut to 260 grams in its lightest layup, with 100 joules on Nextie's V-hammer impact test. We offer it in 260 and 280-gram layups, in 29in.
Nextie designs and molds the rim; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. We build it into a complete wheel: pick the hub, spokes, nipples and lacing in the configurator and it ships laced, tensioned and trued.
Who it is for
The Omega 36U is for cross-country racers and light trail riders who want a 30mm bed for modern 2.3 to 2.4in tires without paying for it in grams. The 260-gram layup is the race build; the 280-gram layup adds a little carbon for riders who want more margin. Drilled 24, 28 or 32 holes.
Sizes, weights and prices
2 sizes, in 29in / 700c, drilled 24h, 28h, 32h. Rim weights are Nextie's published figures; ERD is the effective rim diameter we cut spokes to, listed per wheel size.

How it compares
The Omega 36 is the reinforced Omega for trail and enduro, at 350 or 390 grams. The Premium VM is the lighter-budget cross-country option at 280 grams. For downhill, see the XD.
What the designations mean
Standard, Premium and Supreme
Nextie builds every rim in one of three editions. The mold is the same; the carbon grade, the spoke-bed process, the tolerances and the warranty step up with each tier.

Series codes
Every size in the list carries Nextie's own series code. Road and gravel codes are width classes, which set the tire size and the aero profile; MTB codes are duty cycles.
| Supreme | Supreme is Nextie's top edition: a T800 and ultra-light T1000 carbon blend, the Advanced Single-Point independent spoke-bed mold, roundness and flatness held within 0.15mm, and a 5-year factory warranty - the lowest weight Nextie can reach with the highest impact resistance. |
|---|---|
| Omega | Nextie's reinforced Supreme MTB line: Omega 36 / 40 for trail and enduro, Omega 40D for downhill, with extra carbon around the spoke bed and hooks. |
Material and construction
The Nextie Supreme Omega 36U is molded from carbon fiber in Nextie's Xiamen factory, in a UD (unidirectional) weave with a matte finish. Supreme is Nextie's top edition: a T800 and ultra-light T1000 carbon blend, the Advanced Single-Point independent spoke-bed mold, roundness and flatness held within 0.15mm, and a 5-year factory warranty - the lowest weight Nextie can reach with the highest impact resistance. The bed is tubeless-ready.
How Nextie tests the Supreme Omega 36U
Nextie publishes its own lab results rather than a marketing line. Rims are impact-tested on a drop hammer to the UCI wheel-approval protocol and beyond it (a weighted hammer dropped onto the built, tensioned wheel until the rim fails, the energy recorded in joules), checked for positive and lateral stiffness under load, pulled to destruction at the spoke hole, measured for runout and roundness as a built wheel, and heat-soaked at 80°C for four hours. Every edition also carries a roundness and flatness tolerance, an ASTM riding-condition rating, a maximum system weight and a factory warranty, listed below.
Supreme mountain rims are impact-tested with a V-shaped hammer on a tensioned wheel with the tire at 25psi, a harder protocol than the UCI's flat hammer. Nextie calls 84J exceptional under those conditions; its results are 100J for the Alpha 36S in 24-hole and 105J in 28-hole, 100J for the Omega 36U, 130J for the Omega 36, 140J for the Omega 40, 150J for the Omega 40D and 175J for the downhill and dirt-jump layups. The Supreme layup is Toray T1100 and T1000, with the outermost layer wrapped around the rim so the seams sit away from the impact zones, roundness and flatness within 0.15mm, an 80°C four-hour thermal test and a five-year warranty.

Certifications
The UCI's wheel approval procedure is the only independent certification that exists for bicycle rims: a wheel built on the rim is impact-tested and inspected under the UCI's protocol before it may be raced in UCI-sanctioned road, cyclocross and gravel events, and the certificate is published. Nextie has held UCI approval since September 2021 and adds models each year; it also states that its factory holds SGS test certification and industry production-system certifications, and it rates every rim to an ASTM riding-condition class.
UCI wheel approval applies to road, cyclocross and gravel racing, not mountain biking, so no MTB rim carries a certificate; the Omega 36U is tested to the harder 25psi V-hammer protocol above. The approvals below are Nextie's road and gravel certificates.

Weight
Weights run from 260g for the Omega 36U 260g to 280g for the Omega 36U 280g. Rim weight is rotating weight at the outside of the wheel, so a gram saved here is felt more than a gram saved on the frame. The 30mm inner width decides the tire.
Value
A 260-gram carbon mountain rim with a published impact figure and a five-year warranty is rare at any price. Nextie molds the Omega 36U in its own factory and sells it direct, and built here on the hub you choose it makes a race-weight wheel set at a fraction of the boutique cost.
How we build it
Choose the size, the wheel diameter and a drilling (24h, 28h, 32h), and the configurator only offers hubs, spokes and lacing patterns that can actually be built with that combination. Start a build with the Nextie Supreme Omega 36U and the Custom Wheel Program opens with this rim already selected; from this page, the Build button carries the size, drilling and diameter you picked straight into the build. You can also send us a rim you already own with the supply-your-own option.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nextie warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nextie and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Nextie Supreme Omega 36U questions
Is the Omega 36U strong enough for trail riding?
Nextie records 100 joules for the Omega 36U on its 25psi V-hammer test, against 84J it calls exceptional. The 280-gram layup is the better choice for trail; for enduro, choose the Omega 36.
Which Omega 36U layup should I pick?
The 260-gram layup for cross-country racing and light riders; the 280-gram layup for heavier riders or rougher trails. Both share the 30mm bed and ERD.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Nextie Supreme Omega 36U?
No. Nextie designs and manufactures the rim. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia: we buy the rim from Nextie and build it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Can I buy the Nextie Supreme Omega 36U on its own?
No. We supply Nextie rims only as part of a wheel we build, so every rim is laced, tensioned and trued here before it ships.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
