Race Face AR Offset 40 Rim
The Race Face AR Offset 40 Rim is an aluminum disc tubeless rim for custom wheel builds. Race Face designs and manufactures the rim; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. We build it into a complete wheel: choose the hub, spokes, nipples and lacing in the configurator and it ships laced, tensioned and trued by hand.

Material and weight
A aluminum rim, listed by Race Face at 626g in 700c/29in, 595g in 650b/27.5in. Rim weight is rotating weight at the outside of the wheel, so it is felt more than the same grams on the frame. A 40mm inner width supports wide tires at low pressure and gives them a stable, rounded profile.
Value
Every Race Face rim we sell is built into a wheel here: we cut spokes to the measured ERD of the exact size, lace it to the hub you choose, tension and true it by hand and stand behind the build. The current per-size price is always shown live in the configurator.
How we build it
Pick the wheel size (29in, 27.5in), then a drilling (32h), and the configurator only offers hubs, spokes and lacing patterns that can be built with that combination. Sizes or drillings not made are struck through rather than hidden. Start from this rim in the Custom Wheel Program, or send us a rim you already own with the supply-your-own option.
Build it with us
We build this rim to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the Race Face AR Offset 40 Rim already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for tandem and e-bike, mountain bike, MTB single-speed and fat bike builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
How Race Face tests its rims
Race Face publishes no impact-energy, fatigue-cycle or standards figures for its rims. Its ARC Offset, ARC HD Offset and Turbine alloy rims are made from 6069 aluminum, which Race Face states gives "superior strength" and a better strength-to-weight ratio than its earlier ARC rims; the asymmetric nipple bed is intended to balance spoke tension. The ARC Carbon rim uses a unidirectional carbon layup at 24mm height with 4.5mm offset. Turbine and Era rims carry the Anvil Edge, a wider 2.5mm rim edge that "disperses the energy of a pinch flat across a broader, flatter surface."
Press coverage (Flow Mountain Bike, Bikerumor) reports that the Turbine and Era wheels were lab tested at Fox Factory's facility in Scotts Valley, California, including impact and fatigue protocols; Race Face's own pages do not publish those results. Race Face refers buyers to a Rim Pressure Chart for maximum tire pressures, and lists a 140 kg (306 lb) system weight rating and 65 Nm maximum drive-assist torque for Era wheels; no rider weight limit is stated for rims sold alone.
Warranty: Race Face states that wheels are covered by its Lifetime Warranty, "Crashes Included," which "covers all product failures related to riding, inclusive of crashes." Race Face states that if you dent or flat spot a Turbine rim and the tire still holds air, the warranty does not apply, and that roof-rack or intentional damage is excluded. In countries such as Germany the coverage runs 10 years. Products not covered may receive a crash-replacement discount.

Warranty
Race Face's warranty. Race Face's lifetime warranty covers many of its hard goods, wheels included, and extends to parts broken while riding. Products outside that program are covered for two years, or longer where local law requires. In countries that restrict lifetime warranty claims the term is stated as ten years.
ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
AR Offset 40 Rim questions
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Race Face AR Offset 40 Rim?
No. Race Face makes the rim. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia: we buy the rim from Race Face and build it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Is it tubeless-ready?
Yes. Race Face lists the AR Offset 40 Rim as clincher tubeless compatible; we tape and fit a valve when you choose the tubeless option.
Which spoke count should I choose?
It depends on your weight, terrain and the hub, not the rim alone. The configurator recommends a count from your bike type and rider weight, within the drillings this rim is made in.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
