Shimano XT HB M8210 B Centerlock Disc Black Front Hub
The Shimano XT HB-M8210-B is the front hub for Shimano's 12-speed Deore XT M8200 groupset and the hub that replaces the HB-M8110 in Shimano's line-up: a 15 x 110 Boost front with a centerlock rotor mount, sealed cartridge bearings behind labyrinth-and-contact seals, and an aluminum shell and axle in 28 and 32 hole. It is the front half of the XT hubset and the sensible partner for the FH-M8210-B rear. This page covers the Shimano XT HB M8210 B Centerlock Disc Black Front Hub.
The XT front hub is not sold bare. You choose the rim and the rest of the build in the configurator, and it ships from our shop in Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The XT HB-M8210-B runs on SUJ2 bearing-steel cartridge bearings, a change from the cup-and-cone bearings of the HB-M8110 it replaces, sealed by Shimano's labyrinth-and-contact seals. The shell and axle are aluminum, with J-bend flanges in 28 and 32 hole, a centerlock rotor mount and a 15mm thru-axle.
This is the front hub, and a front hub has no freehub. What matters here is the part of the hub that carries the wheel: the bearings, the seals, the axle and the two flanges, and the front XT HB-M8210-B front shares all of them with its rear partner. It is the simpler half of the pair and the one that runs longest between services. The driver and engagement story belongs on the rear hub's page; this page is about a front wheel that spins freely, stays sealed and builds stiff.
How it rides
The XT front hub spins on sealed cartridge bearings that need no adjustment and are replaced, not rebuilt, when they wear. It builds into a stiff front wheel on any centerlock trail rim, and it is the front hub we suggest to match an XT rear.
On the road or the trail the front hub's job is to disappear: spin freely, keep water out, and hold the flanges still so the wheel tracks where you point it. The front XT HB-M8210-B front does that with the same bearings and seals as the rear and none of the rear's complexity, and because a front wheel carries less load and no torque it stays true longer than the rear on the same rim. When the rear finally needs a look, the front usually does not.

This listing
This is the centerlock version: Thru Axle 15x110mm Boost, 28h, 32h drilling, about 130g, in black. Shimano makes the HB-M8210-B in 15 x 110 Boost only; for a 15 x 100 fork choose another front hub on this site.
This is the centerlock XT HB-M8210-B front: the rotor sits on a spline and a lockring holds it, which saves weight over six bolts and makes swapping rotors a one-tool job. If your rotors are 6-bolt, a centerlock adapter fits them.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Shimano XT HB M8210 B Centerlock Disc Black Front Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page in 15 x 110 Boost spacing with a centerlock rotor mount. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most XT wheels with Sapim Race or D-Light spokes or DT Competition and brass nipples.
It pairs naturally with the XT FH-M8210-B rear, and with DT Swiss, Stan's, WTB, Race Face, Reserve and Nox rims that match its drilling. Give the configurator your bike type and weight; it picks a sensible spoke count and lacing pattern, which you can override.

What Shimano says about testing
Shimano publishes no load, fatigue, or salt-spray figures for its hubs. Its US warranty states that most bicycle products are warranted free from defects in material and workmanship for two years from original purchase, and that DURA-ACE and XTR components and wheels are covered for three years, for the original owner with proof of purchase. Competition or commercial use, improper assembly or repair, finish deterioration, labor, and normal wear are excluded; bearings, corrosion, dust seals and spokes are listed as wear parts.
Shimano's higher-end hubs, including the Dura-Ace R9270 wheel hubs, use cup-and-cone loose-ball bearings, which Shimano says “effectively displace lateral and vertical loads for smooth rotation and excellent durability — [and are] easier to adjust and service”. Dealer manuals instruct that only Shimano-specified lubricants be used, internal parts not be oiled, and the hub be inspected if the wheel becomes stiff. In 2023 Shimano introduced the TC600, TC500/QC500, QC400 and QC300 cartridge-bearing hubs with “Labyrinth & Contact” seals, described as double-sealed. A 2007 Bicycle Retailer report described Shimano's Malaysian hub and wheel factory as ISO 9001 and 14001 compliant, 89,000 square meters with 2,087 employees.
Certifications
- Warranty: 2 years / 3 years — Most bicycle products two years from original purchase; DURA-ACE and XTR components and wheels three years; original owner, proof of purchase; wear parts excluded (bearings, dust seals, free hubs, driver bodies, pawls, spokes) (source)
- ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (Malaysian wheel/hub factory) — Reported by Bicycle Retailer, 19 Dec 2007: factory producing wheels incl. Dura-Ace, hubs, cranks, pedals is “ISO 9001 and 14001” compliant; 89,000 sq m, 2,087 employees (source)

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Shimano makes the XT HB-M8210-B front; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Every XT HB-M8210-B front wheel we build gets spokes cut from the measured ERD of the rim, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief and a final true before it ships.
In the configurator you will only see parts that fit this drilling; combinations that are not made are struck through, and the price updates as you pick.
Warranty
Shimano's warranty. Shimano covers its bicycle components for two years from original purchase, with three years on DURA-ACE and XTR and one year on wheels, footwear and soft goods. Shimano's obligation is to repair or replace at its option, against the original dated receipt.
ProWheelBuilder. If we lace this into a wheel for you, that wheel also carries ProWheelBuilder's own one-year warranty, which covers broken spokes regardless of cause and all wheel-related labor, including truing and rebuilding, for a year from purchase. Where a rim or hub is covered by its maker, we make the manufacturer's claim for you and coordinate it; where it is not, we offer an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off current retail. Shipping to and from us is the customer's. This cover does not extend to wheels built from components you supply yourself.

XT HB M8210 B Centerlock Disc Black Front Hub questions
Will my rotors fit this hub?
This is the centerlock version, so a splined centerlock rotor drops on and a lockring holds it - one tool, no six bolts to torque or lose. If your rotors are 6-bolt they will fit with a centerlock adapter.
Which spokes and nipples suit the XT HB-M8210-B front?
For most riders a double-butted spoke such as Sapim Race or DT Competition with brass nipples; lighter riders can go to Sapim Laser or CX-Ray. The configurator recommends a gauge and count for the XT HB-M8210-B front from your bike type and weight.
Cartridge or cup-and-cone?
The M8210-B uses sealed cartridge bearings, where the M8110 it replaces used adjustable cup-and-cone. Cartridges need no preload adjustment and are pressed out and replaced when they wear; we check them before the wheel ships.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
Thru Axle 15x110mm Boost Front only. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or email us.
Does it need special spokes?
No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
