Boyd CCC Clincher Tubeless Disc Rim
The Boyd CCC is Boyd Cycling's alloy gravel rim, designed in Greenville, South Carolina, for the wide tires gravel and bikepacking bikes run: a wide tubeless-ready bed, a disc-only profile, and 650b and 700c sizes so it suits a 47mm road-plus tire on a small wheel or a 40 to 45mm gravel tire on a big one. It is the rim we suggest for a gravel bike that wants a tough, tubeless alloy wheel from a company that builds gravel wheels for a living.
This page covers the Boyd CCC Clincher Tubeless Disc Rim in 29in, 27.5in. The CCC is not sold bare. You choose the hub and the rest of the build in the configurator, and it ships from our shop in Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The CCC is a welded double-wall aluminum rim with a wide inner bed that gives a 40 to 50mm gravel tire a square, stable shape at low pressure, a tubeless-ready bead that seats with a floor pump, and Boyd's offset spoke bed that brings drive-side and non-drive-side tension closer together on a rear wheel. It is disc only with a plain sidewall, and it is built to take the rock strikes and washboard that gravel riding produces. Standard nipples, J-bend spokes.
How it rides
A CCC wheel on a 42mm tire is comfortable, stable and quick. The wide bed lets you run pressure low for grip and comfort without the tire squirming, the welded rim shrugs off rocks, and the offset rear stays true on rough roads. On a 650b bike with a 47mm tire it is a plush road-plus wheel. For road and light gravel the Altamont is lighter; for gravel and bikepacking, the CCC is the Boyd rim we recommend.

This listing
This is the 29in, 27.5in listing of the CCC, 24h, 28h, 32h, about 415g, 25mm inside, 25.5mm deep, disc. Pick the size that matches your frame; the profile and construction are the same across the range.
This is the disc-brake CCC: plain sidewalls, no brake track to wear, a touch lighter. It fits any disc-brake bike and it is the version most of our customers now build; the rim-brake version is a separate listing.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Boyd CCC Clincher Tubeless Disc Rim comes in 29in, 27.5in and 24h, 28h, 32h drilling. It is a disc-brake rim. We build the CCC on Boyd's own Quest hubs, DT Swiss 350 and 240, White Industries CLD, Bitex BX 106, Industry Nine 1/1 and Chris King R45 hubs, usually with Sapim Race, D-Light or CX-Ray spokes or DT Competition and Aerolite, and brass nipples.
Tire range on the CCC is 35 to 50mm. Pick gravel or bikepacking as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern.
Put it in a custom wheel
Build a custom wheel around the Boyd Ccc Clincher Tubeless Disc Rim — the link drops you into our Custom Wheel Program with this rim pinned, ready for you to choose the rest. It is set up for gravel and road disc and mountain bike builds.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
What Boyd says about testing
Boyd Cycling builds its wheels in Greenville, South Carolina, and states that its Prologue, Podium and CCC alloy rims are rolled in an in-house aluminum rim facility in Greenville, and that carbon rim production in South Carolina began in 2025 after it acquired Munich Composites, giving "the only US based supply of both carbon and aluminum rims."
Boyd's road rims are hooked and, per its FAQ, "meant for tires under 30mm and pressures above 65PSI"; gravel and mountain rims are hookless and "usually will never see tire pressures above 40PSI." All rims have a tubeless rim bed. Boyd publishes no rider weight limit.
Warranty: Boyd states a limited lifetime warranty on carbon rims from 2018 onward and a 2-year (24-month) warranty on alloy rims, excluding broken spokes and worn bearings. Any Boyd wheel owner, regardless of age, condition or place of purchase, is eligible for a reduced-price rebuild, replacement or trade-in.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Boyd makes the CCC; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. Every CCC wheel we build gets spokes cut from the rim's measured ERD, is tensioned in stages with a gauge, stress-relieved and trued before it ships. Tubeless tape and a valve are fitted on request.
In the configurator you will only see parts that fit this drilling; combinations that are not made are struck through, and the price updates as you pick.
Warranty
Boyd's warranty. Boyd Cycling warrants carbon wheels bought new since 1 January 2018 for life against manufacturing defects and alloy wheels for three years, and runs a lifetime crash-replacement scheme that follows the wheel rather than the owner.
ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.

CCC Clincher Tubeless Disc Rim questions
What tire width suits this rim?
25mm inside is the all-road and gravel width. Think 32 to 45mm tires: wide enough to support a gravel casing properly so it holds its shape at low pressure, narrow enough that a 30mm road tire still sits right if you swap wheels between bikes.
CCC or Altamont for gravel?
CCC for 40mm and wider tires and rough gravel; Altamont for 32 to 40mm tires and a lighter, road-capable wheel.
Is the CCC tubeless?
Yes. It is tubeless-ready; we tape and fit a valve on request.
What tires fit the CCC?
35 to 50mm. A 42 to 45mm gravel tire on 700c or a 47mm tire on 650b is the usual pairing.
Is the CCC rim-brake compatible?
No. It is disc only.
Is it tubeless-ready?
Yes. Boyd lists the CCC Clincher Tubeless Disc Rim as clincher tubeless compatible; we tape and fit a valve when you choose the tubeless option.
Which spoke count should I choose?
It depends on your weight, terrain and the hub, not the rim alone. The configurator recommends a count from your bike type and rider weight, within the drillings this rim is made in.
