Convergence We Are 1 Sector Carbon Rim
The We Are One Convergence Sector is the trail rim in the Convergence range, laid up and molded by hand in Kamloops, British Columbia: 28mm inside for 2.3 to 2.5in tires, the shallow 18.5mm Convergence section with its alternating 7.5-degree wall curves and ZRT composite films, 32% stronger than the Union it replaced with the compliance that gives these wheels their grip and damping. It comes in 29in with 28 or 32 hole.
This page covers the Convergence We Are 1 Sector Carbon Rim in 29in. The Sector comes from us only as a finished wheel: pick the hub, spokes and nipples, and we lace, tension and true it by hand in Georgia before it ships.
Design and construction
The company does something almost nobody else does: it lays up every rim by hand in its own factory in Kamloops rather than buying molded rims from Asia, and the Convergence profile is the result of being able to iterate on its own tooling. The rim wall is not a smooth arc but a series of shallow curves that alternate at 7.5 degrees to match the angle each spoke leaves the rim, which stiffens the spoke bed and lets the rest of the section stay thin and compliant. ZRT films in the layup add impact strength without adding weight. The bead is hookless and tubeless, the nipples external, the spokes standard J-bend.
How it rides
A Sector wheel is quick, damped and precise. The 28mm bed gives a 2.4in trail tire a round, fast profile with enough support to corner hard, the shallow section takes the edge off chatter, and the Convergence layup takes trail abuse that would crack lighter rims. It is a touch lighter than the Triad and the better choice for trail bikes on 2.3 to 2.4in tires.
For enduro the Triad is wider and stronger; for cross-country racing the Whisp is lighter. For trail riding, the Sector is the We Are One rim we recommend.

About this listing
Version notes. 29in, 28h, 32h, about 448g, 28mm inside, 18.5mm deep, disc. The other sizes and brake versions of the Convergence Sector have their own listings; this page is for this one.
The disc version of the Convergence Sector has no brake track, so the sidewall is a plain extrusion that saves a little weight and never wears; it is the one to choose for any disc-brake frame. The rim-brake version, listed separately, has a machined sidewall.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Convergence We Are 1 Sector Carbon Rim comes in 29in and 28h, 32h drilling. It is a disc-brake rim. We build the Sector on Industry Nine Hydra 2 and 1/1, DT Swiss 350 and 240, Hope Pro 5, Onyx Vesper and Chris King MTB hubs, usually with Sapim Race, D-Light or CX-Ray spokes or DT Competition, and brass nipples.
Tire range on the Sector is 2.3 to 2.5in, tubeless-ready tires only on the hookless bead. Pick your bike type and weight in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern.
Build a wheel around it
Offered for mountain bike and MTB single-speed builds in our Custom Wheel Program. Start with the Convergence We Are 1 Sector Carbon Rim and the configurator pins it for you, then checks each choice you make against it.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
Testing, standards and warranty at Convergence We Are 1
We Are One Composites hand-lays its carbon rims in Kamloops, British Columbia, and states all of its manufacturing happens under one roof there: it designs and CNC-machines its own aluminum molds, develops its own layups, and each rim is hand laid and hand signed by the person who laid it up. We Are One states it has tested its products and knows they exceed industry standards, and that its in-house fatigue and strength testing meets current test standards, but it publishes no impact energies, fatigue-cycle counts or ISO/EN/UCI results. A February 2024 Radavist factory visit described in-house oven curing, hand-marked drilling and a quality-control check of every rim before lacing. For the Convergence rims, CompositesWorld reported in November 2022 that We Are One's in-house testing found Convergence 32% stronger than its Union 29 in rim, credited to Boston Materials ZRT film with Z-axis carbon fiber reinforcing the spoke bed; the Triad is 18.5 mm high with a 28 mm internal width.
Since Industry Nine acquired We Are One in June 2025, rim warranty claims go through industrynine.com. We Are One's statement is: "If you break a rim while riding, we will send you a new one. Period." with no cost except shipping. Industry Nine's warranty page states carbon rims are covered for life against defects and for impact damage while riding within the wheel's intended use, for the original purchaser. A July 2025 Radavist review describes 50% crash replacement for second owners or non-riding damage. No rider weight limit or maximum tire pressure is published on the brand's pages.

Convergence We Are 1 publishes those results; ProWheelBuilder builds the rim into a wheel and does not test it in a lab.
Building it at ProWheelBuilder
We Are One makes the Convergence Sector; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. We measure the rim before we cut a spoke, bring the wheel up in three or four rounds with a gauge, stress-relieve it between rounds and true it last, then tape it and fit a valve if you want it tubeless.
Only compatible hubs and spokes appear in the configurator, impossible combinations are struck through rather than hidden, and the price is live.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Convergence We Are 1 warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Convergence We Are 1 and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Wheels we build around this part are covered by our own one-year warranty alongside the maker's. Within the year: broken spokes replaced regardless of cause, and the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning or a complete rebuild - included. A manufacturer-covered rim or hub failure is a claim we make and manage for you; one they will not cover is answered with an eligible replacement at 25% off retail. Shipping each way is yours. Parts you supply yourself fall outside it.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Sector Carbon Rim questions
What tire width suits this rim?
At 28mm inside this is a trail width, sized around 2.1 to 2.4in tires. That is wide enough to stop a modern trail casing rolling under you in a corner without pushing the tread so flat that it wears down the middle.
Which spokes and nipples suit the Convergence Sector?
For most riders a double-butted spoke such as Sapim Race or DT Competition with brass nipples; lighter riders can go to Sapim Laser or CX-Ray. The configurator recommends a gauge and count for the Convergence Sector from your bike type and weight.
Sector, Triad or Fuse?
Sector at 28mm for trail on 2.3 to 2.4in tires; Triad at 30mm for enduro and aggressive trail on 2.4 to 2.6in; Fuse at 33mm for e-bikes and the hardest riding.
What is Convergence?
We Are One's second-generation rim profile: a shallow section with alternating curves in the wall that buttress the spoke angles, and ZRT films in the layup, 32% stronger than the Union rims with the same compliance.
Is the Triad hookless?
Yes. Use tubeless-ready tires and stay under the maximum pressure printed on the rim.
Is We Are One made in Canada?
Yes. Every rim is laid up and molded by hand in Kamloops, British Columbia, with a lifetime warranty.
Is it tubeless-ready?
Yes. Convergence We Are 1 lists the Sector Carbon Rim as clincher tubeless compatible; we tape and fit a valve when you choose the tubeless option.
