Industry Nine Sector Aluminum Rim
The Industry Nine Sector is the cross-country and light-trail rim in Industry Nine's alloy range: 27mm-class inner width, welded, tubeless-ready and light for its width, in 29in and 27.5in. It is the rim for riders on 2.2 to 2.4in tires who want an Industry Nine alloy wheel that climbs well and still takes trail riding, laced to a Hydra 2, SOLiX or 1/1 hub.
This page covers the Industry Nine Sector Aluminum Rim in 29in. The Sector is not sold bare. You choose the hub and the rest of the build in the configurator, and it ships from our shop in Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The Sector is a welded double-wall aluminum rim with a 27mm-class inner width, a tubeless-ready bead that seats cross-country and trail tires with a floor pump, and a shallow section that keeps the weight down. It is the lightest rim in Industry Nine's alloy range, drilled with the spoke-hole angles Industry Nine's hubs call for, and it pairs with the SOLiX for a cross-country race wheel or the 1/1 for a trail wheel. Standard nipples, J-bend spokes, disc only.
Industry Nine's alloy rims are made to be built onto Industry Nine hubs, which means the spoke holes are angled for the flange geometry of a Hydra or 1/1 and the ERDs are published to the tenth of a millimeter, and that discipline carries over to any hub we lace them to. The rims arrive with the tubeless tape and valve the company recommends, and the anodized black finish matches the black 1/1 hub or sets off a colored Hydra.
How it rides
A Sector wheel is quick. The rim is light enough that a cross-country wheelset on it accelerates well, and the 27mm bed is the modern sweet spot for a 2.35in tire: round enough to roll fast on hardpack, wide enough to grip when leaned over. It takes trail riding without complaint; for enduro the Grade 300 is tougher.
On a hardtail or a short-travel full-suspension bike, a Sector wheelset with a 2.35in tire is the combination that makes the bike feel light without giving up the width modern tires want. It stays true through a season of racing and holds tension the way a welded rim should.

This listing
This is the 29in listing of the Sector, 28h, 32h, about 490g, 28.5mm inside, 21.3mm deep, disc. Pick the size that matches your frame; the profile and construction are the same across the range.
The disc version of the Sector has no brake track, so the sidewall is a plain extrusion that saves a little weight and never wears; it is the one to choose for any disc-brake frame. The rim-brake version, listed separately, has a machined sidewall.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Industry Nine Sector Aluminum Rim comes in 29in and 28h, 32h drilling. It is a disc-brake rim. We build the Sector on Industry Nine Hydra 2, SOLiX and 1/1 hubs, DT Swiss 350, 240 and 180, Hope Pro 5 and Chris King MTB hubs, usually with Sapim Laser, D-Light or Race spokes or DT Competition and brass or alloy nipples.
Tire range on the Sector is 2.1 to 2.4in. Give the configurator your bike type and weight; it picks a sensible spoke count and lacing pattern, which you can override.
Put it in a custom wheel
Build a custom wheel around the Industry 9 Sector Aluminum Rim — the link drops you into our Custom Wheel Program with this rim pinned, ready for you to choose the rest. It is set up for mountain bike and MTB single-speed builds.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
What Industry Nine says about testing
Industry Nine's rim range is split between Convergence carbon rims and Hollow-Bead alloy rims (Sector, Triad, Grade 300 and DJ305). Industry Nine states every carbon rim "is laid up by a named technician, assigned a serial number, and produced entirely under one roof in Kamloops" (British Columbia). Its alloy rims use a Hollow Bead Wall design intended to improve impact resistance and reduce pinch flats; the Enduro 305 V3 introduced a bead wall 45% wider than the V2, and a 2024 review lists the Enduro 300 as a "triple cavity aluminum rim with Hollow Bead Wall design". Industry Nine does not publish the alloy grade (a review lists "6000-series aluminum alloy"), where alloy extrusions are made, or any impact- or fatigue-test figures, ISO 4210 or UCI approvals.
Rider weight limits are published per wheelset rather than per rim; reviews list 113 kg for the Enduro 305 V3 wheelset and "Max ride weight: 290 lbs (132 kgs)" for the Enduro 300 wheelset.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Industry Nine makes the Sector; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. Every Sector wheel we build gets spokes cut from the rim's measured ERD, is tensioned in stages with a gauge, stress-relieved and trued before it ships. Tubeless tape and a valve are fitted on request.
In the configurator you will only see parts that fit this drilling; combinations that are not made are struck through, and the price updates as you pick.
Warranty
Industry Nine's warranty. Industry Nine covers its hubs against defects in materials and workmanship for five years from purchase, with two years on the anodized finish. Its alloy and carbon rims carry a lifetime defect warranty to the original purchaser, with parts, labor and return shipping covered for the first two years and parts thereafter. Bearing wear, impact and crash damage are not defects.
ProWheelBuilder. Wheels we build around this part are covered by our own one-year warranty alongside the maker's. Within the year: broken spokes replaced regardless of cause, and the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning or a complete rebuild - included. A manufacturer-covered rim or hub failure is a claim we make and manage for you; one they will not cover is answered with an eligible replacement at 25% off retail. Shipping each way is yours. Parts you supply yourself fall outside it.

Sector Aluminum Rim questions
What tire width suits this rim?
At 28.5mm inside this is a trail width, sized around 2.1 to 2.4in tires. That is wide enough to stop a modern trail casing rolling under you in a corner without pushing the tread so flat that it wears down the middle.
Which spokes and nipples suit the Sector?
For most riders a double-butted spoke such as Sapim Race or DT Competition with brass nipples; lighter riders can go to Sapim Laser or CX-Ray. The configurator recommends a gauge and count for the Sector from your bike type and weight.
Grade 300, Triad or Sector?
Grade 300 is the 30mm trail and enduro all-rounder; Triad is the 30mm-class trail and enduro rim in Industry Nine's welded profile; Sector is the lighter 27mm cross-country and trail rim.
Is the Grade 300 tubeless?
Yes. It is tubeless-ready; we tape and fit a valve on request.
Is the Grade 300 e-bike rated?
For trail e-bikes with the right spokes, yes; it is the rim on Industry Nine's own e-bike wheels.
What tires fit the Grade 300?
2.3 to 2.6in. A 2.4 to 2.5in trail tire is the pairing most of our customers run.
Is it tubeless-ready?
Yes. Industry Nine lists the Sector Aluminum Rim as clincher tubeless compatible; we tape and fit a valve when you choose the tubeless option.
