ENVE Composites G SES 4.5 PRO Gravel Disc Rear Clincher Rim
The ENVE G SES 4.5 PRO brings SES aerodynamics to gravel racing. It is a 49mm-deep front and 55mm-deep rear with a 30mm internal width, shaped for the 44 to 52mm tires that fast gravel courses now run, and finished with ENVE's Wide Hookless Bead for pinch-flat protection on rough ground. It is the rim for gravel races where the average speed is high and the roads are long. This page covers the ENVE Composites G SES 4.5 PRO Gravel Disc Rear Clincher Rim.
The G SES 4.5 PRO is sold here only inside a custom build: choose the hub, spokes and nipples in the configurator and we lace, tension and true it by hand in Georgia.
Design and construction
A gravel rim has to manage what a road rim never sees: a 45mm tire at low pressure, rocks, ruts and long hours off the pavement. ENVE sized the G SES 4.5 PRO's 30mm inner width so that high-volume tires take an aero shape with the rim instead of ballooning past it, and gave it the same front and rear split as the road SES rims, a 49mm front for stability and a 55mm rear for speed.
The Wide Hookless Bead is a 3.8mm-wide sidewall that spreads an impact over a broad surface, which is what protects the tire against pinch flats and the rim against damage at gravel pressures. The rims weigh 455 grams front and 450 grams rear, are 24-hole and use a 34mm tubeless tape.
How it rides
On a fast gravel course the G SES 4.5 PRO does what deep road rims do on tarmac: it holds speed on the flats and in the paceline, and it does it while running a tire big enough for chunky descents. The 30mm channel gives a 45mm tire a stable, supported shape at low pressure, so it corners and climbs without squirm.
For rougher, slower gravel or bikepacking, ENVE's G23 is lighter and narrower; for the very widest tires the G SES 6.7 PRO has a 35mm channel. For racing gravel at speed on 44 to 52mm tires, the G SES 4.5 PRO is the ENVE rim we recommend.

This listing
This is the rear rim of the G SES 4.5 PRO: 55mm deep, 30mm wide inside, hookless, about 450g, 24-hole, disc only. The front rim is 49mm deep and listed separately, because ENVE shapes the two positions differently; most riders build them as a matched pair.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The ENVE Composites G SES 4.5 PRO Gravel Disc Rear Clincher Rim is a 24-hole, 700c, disc-brake gravel rim. ENVE recommends 44 to 52mm tires with a 40mm minimum and a 50 psi maximum, tubeless-ready tires only. We build the G SES 4.5 PRO on hubs from ENVE, Chris King, DT Swiss, Industry Nine and White Industries, usually with Sapim CX-Ray or DT Competition spokes.
Front and rear are separate listings because their depths differ. Pick your bike type and rider weight in the configurator and it recommends a lacing pattern for each.
Put it in a custom wheel
Build a custom wheel around the ENVE Composites G SES 4.5 PRO Gravel Disc Rear Clincher Rim — the link opens our Custom Wheel Program with this rim pinned, ready for you to choose the rest. It is set up for gravel and road disc builds.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
What ENVE says about testing
ENVE designs, molds and tests its carbon rims in Ogden, Utah. The G SES rims use ENVE's Wide Hookless Bead, a 3.8mm-wide sidewall that ENVE developed to spread an impact over a broad surface, which is what protects a low-pressure gravel tire against pinch flats and the rim against damage. ENVE publishes a 50 psi maximum pressure and a minimum tire width for each G SES rim and approves tires against its own standard for hookless rims, which it describes as stricter than the ISO 4210 tire-retention test.
Everything in this section is published by ENVE Composites. ProWheelBuilder is the builder, not the tester.
Building it at ProWheelBuilder
ENVE makes the G SES 4.5 PRO; ProWheelBuilder is an independent builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer, and the factory warranty rides with the rim. Every G SES 4.5 PRO build gets spokes cut to ENVE's published ERD, is tensioned in stages with a gauge to the factory specification, stress-relieved and trued before it ships. Tubeless tape and a valve are fitted on request.
The configurator shows only hubs and spokes that match the 24-hole drilling, strikes through combinations that are not offered, and prices the build live.
Warranty
ENVE Composites's warranty. ENVE gives the original owner a five-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, alongside its Lifetime Incident Protection program, which covers rims, forks, bars, stems, seatposts and hubs damaged in riding incidents.
ProWheelBuilder. Lace this into a wheel here and the finished wheel gets our own one-year warranty as well as the maker's. For twelve months we replace broken spokes however they broke, and the work on the wheel is on us - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild where it is needed. If the rim or hub is covered by its manufacturer we put the claim in and chase it; if it is not, we supply an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off the current retail price. Carriage both ways is the customer's, and this does not cover wheels built from parts you send in.

G SES 4.5 PRO questions
What tires fit the G SES 4.5 PRO?
ENVE recommends 44 to 52mm tubeless-ready tires, with a 40mm minimum and a 50 psi maximum.
Is it hookless?
Yes. It uses ENVE's Wide Hookless Bead, a 3.8mm-wide sidewall that resists pinch flats and impact damage.
G SES 4.5 PRO or G SES 6.7 PRO?
The 4.5 PRO has a 30mm channel for 44 to 52mm tires; the 6.7 PRO is deeper with a 35mm channel and a 44mm minimum tire.
Can I use it for road riding too?
Its 40mm minimum tire size makes it a gravel and all-road rim; for 28 to 32mm road tires, look at the SES road rims.
How long will the build take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
