The Surly MY Other Brother Darryl Symmetric Rim is an aluminum disc rim for custom wheel builds. Surly designs and manufactures the rim; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. We build it into a complete wheel: choose the hub, spokes, nipples and lacing in the configurator and it ships laced, tensioned and trued by hand.

Material and weight
An aluminum rim, listed by Surly at 720g in 26in. Rim weight is rotating weight at the outside of the wheel, so it is felt more than the same grams on the frame. A 76.8mm inner width supports wide tires at low pressure and gives them a stable, rounded profile.
Value
Every Surly rim we sell is built into a wheel here: we cut spokes to the measured ERD of the exact size, lace it to the hub you choose, tension and true it by hand and stand behind the build. The current per-size price is always shown live in the configurator.
How we build it
Pick the wheel size (26in), then a drilling (32h), and the configurator only offers hubs, spokes and lacing patterns that can be built with that combination. Sizes or drillings not made are struck through rather than hidden. Start from this rim in the Custom Wheel Program, or send us a rim you already own with the supply-your-own option.
Build it with us
We build this rim to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the Surly My Other Brother Darryl Symmetric Rim already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for MTB single-speed and fat bike builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Surly warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Surly and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.
