Velo Orange Chronos Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub
The Velo Orange Chronos Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub is one front hub for three fork standards: it comes set up for 100mm quick release, 12x100 or 15x100 thru-axle, with the end caps Velo Orange includes. It has 58mm flanges, large sealed cartridge bearings and a 6-bolt rotor mount, and weighs 155 grams.
It is drilled 28 or 32 hole in silver or black. This page covers the 100mm disc front; we build it to order with the rim, spokes and nipples you choose and lace it by hand in Georgia.
Design and construction
A disc front cannot be symmetrical, and the Chronos shows why. The rotor needs room, so the rotor-side flange sits 21.6mm from center and the other 35.3mm. That makes the rotor-side spokes the tighter side of the wheel, and braking torque goes through the hub to the rim, so a disc front is always laced cross on both sides, never radial.
The shell is the same high-flange design as the other Chronos hubs, with 58mm flanges that leave room for big sealed cartridge bearings. The rotor mount is ISO 6-bolt; Velo Orange makes no Centerlock version of the Chronos. Spoke holes are punched for J-bend spokes.
How it rides
This is the front for a gravel bike, a disc tourer or a commuter that sees all weather. The sealed bearings shrug off spray, and because the axle is set by end caps, the same hub can move from a quick-release fork to a thru-axle fork later with a change of caps rather than a new wheel.
We usually suggest 32 hole for loaded touring and for riders who brake hard on long descents, and 28 hole for a lighter gravel or all-road wheel. Silver suits a classic steel bike; black disappears on a modern one.

About this listing
This listing is the 100mm Chronos disc front: 6-bolt rotor mount, quick release or 12 or 15mm thru-axle, 28 or 32 hole, about 155g.
A Boost fork with 110mm spacing needs the Chronos Boost front instead, and a rim-brake fork the plain Chronos Front Hub. The matching rear for most disc tourers and gravel bikes is the Chronos Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
Check your fork: a quick-release fork takes the QR setting, and a thru-axle fork is 12 or 15mm across the axle, usually printed on the axle itself. Pick it in the configurator and we fit the matching end caps. Velo Orange does not include a skewer or thru-axle; your fork's own is what you use.
Any ISO 6-bolt rotor fits, in whatever size your fork and caliper are set up for. It builds with standard J-bend spokes, usually DT Champion or Competition or Sapim Race with brass nipples, on a disc rim such as the Velo Orange Voyager or Orbital. Choose gravel, touring or road disc as the bike type and the configurator recommends the spoke count and lacing.
Build it with us
We build this hub to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the Velo Orange Chronos Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for gravel and road disc, track and road single-speed and touring builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.
Velo Orange's factory, testing and warranty
Velo Orange visited its Taiwan partner factories in 2025 and wrote up the hub maker, whose new hubs were then in early sample testing. The process it describes: aluminum shells cold-forged in-house on presses of up to 650 tons, CNC machining afterward and the 6-bolt rotor mount, and spoke holes punched instead of drilled so the hole has a chamfer that Velo Orange considers ideal for a J-bend spoke elbow. Its quality-control claim is simple: every hub is checked for smoothness and play before it goes in the box.
The Chronos fronts share the high-flange design of the rears. Velo Orange says the 58mm flange was chosen for longevity, because it leaves room for large sealed cartridge bearings, and credits it with a more reliable wheel build and a hub that stays smooth through seasons of grit and grime.
Velo Orange does not publish impact, fatigue or ISO test results for the Chronos. On warranty it states that defective parts can be exchanged for one year from the purchase date, with proof of purchase.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
We do not make the Chronos disc front, Velo Orange does. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel shop in Georgia: we measure, cut spokes to length, lace by hand, tension in stages with a meter, stress-relieve the wheel and finish it true, round and correctly dished.
In the configurator the options narrow to what fits this hub, impossible combinations are shown struck through, and the price is live.
Warranty
Velo Orange's warranty. Velo Orange exchanges defective parts and accessories, its rims and hubs among them, for one year from the purchase date. Proof of purchase is required, because the warranty period runs from the day the part was bought.
ProWheelBuilder. Any wheel we build on this part carries ProWheelBuilder's one-year warranty in addition to the manufacturer's. Broken spokes are replaced for a year whatever the cause, and all wheel-side labor is included - truing, re-tensioning, rebuilding. Where the maker covers a failed rim or hub we handle that claim for you; where they decline, an eligible replacement comes at 25% off current retail. The customer covers shipping in both directions. Components supplied by the customer are not covered.

Chronos Front Disc Hub questions
Is this the old Velo Orange disc front hub?
No. Velo Orange discontinued its earlier hubs; this listing now carries the Chronos disc front that replaced them, 155g, in 28 or 32 hole instead of the old 32 and 36.
Which axle do I choose?
The one your fork uses: 100mm quick release, 12x100 or 15x100 thru-axle. All three come from the same hub with end caps, so you can change later.
Will my Centerlock rotor fit?
No. The Chronos is 6-bolt only, so use an ISO 6-bolt rotor.
What rotor size can I run?
The hub does not limit it. Rotor size is set by your fork and caliper mounts, commonly 160 or 180mm.
28 or 32 hole?
32 for loaded touring and heavier riders, 28 for a lighter gravel or road wheel.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Chronos disc front?
No. Velo Orange makes the hub. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia that builds it into a wheel to your spec.
