Velo Orange Enterprise Polished Rim
The Velo Orange Enterprise is the classic polished box-section touring rim: a shallow double-wall 6061 aluminum rim with single stainless eyelets and a machined brake track, sized for 25 to 38mm road and touring tires, in 700c and 650b with 32 and 36 hole drilling. It is the rim for randonneur, classic road and light-touring bikes that want the look of a vintage rim with the strength of a modern one, and it matches a polished Velo Orange, Phil Wood or White Industries hub.
This page covers the Velo Orange Enterprise Polished Rim in 27in, 700c. The Enterprise is not sold bare. You choose the hub and the rest of the build in the configurator, and it ships from our shop in Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The Voyager is a double-wall rim with a wide inner bed, a shallow section that keeps the ride comfortable, single stainless eyelets that spread nipple load and a bead that seals with tape and a tubeless-ready tire. The polished finish is the point: it looks like a rim from the 1970s and takes a tire from this decade. The rim-brake version has a machined sidewall and there is a disc version with a plain one.
How it rides
An Enterprise wheel rides the way a shallow box rim always has: supple, quiet and comfortable on a 28 to 35mm tire, with none of the harshness of a deep section. With 32 or 36 spokes on a classic hub it is the definitive randonneur wheel. For wider tires and a tubeless option the Voyager is the choice; for classic road, randonneur and light touring on 25 to 38mm tires, the Enterprise is the Velo Orange rim we recommend.

This listing
This is the 27in, 700c listing of the Enterprise, 32h, 36h, about 540g, 16.3mm inside, 18mm deep, disc. Pick the size that matches your frame; the profile and construction are the same across the range.
This is the disc-brake Enterprise: plain sidewalls, no brake track to wear, a touch lighter. It fits any disc-brake bike and it is the version most of our customers now build; the rim-brake version is a separate listing.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Velo Orange Enterprise Polished Rim comes in 27in, 700c and 32h, 36h drilling. It is a rim-brake rim. We build the Enterprise on Velo Orange hubs, Phil Wood, White Industries, Paul, Shimano, Son dynamo and Velocity Standard hubs, usually with DT Champion or Competition and Sapim Race spokes and brass nipples.
Tire range on the Enterprise is 25 to 38mm. Pick road, randonneur or touring as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern.
Build it into a wheel
This rim is live in our Custom Wheel Program for road rim brake, track and road single-speed and touring builds. Start a build with the Velo Orange Enterprise Polished Rim and the configurator opens with this exact rim pinned at the top of the Velo Orange list — you choose the rest of the parts and it validates every combination as you go.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
What Velo Orange says about testing
Velo Orange rims are made from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy by partner factories in Taiwan; Velo Orange states it has "been working with our partner factories in Taiwan for the better part of two decades", with a different specialist factory for each product line, including one for rims. The Voyager is a double-wall, box-section, tubeless-compatible rim with a 16.3mm internal width, listed at 576g (26"), 597g (650b) and 638g (700c) in 32 or 36 hole, for tires from 38mm to 2.4" and both rim and disc brakes. The Orbital is a disc-only tubeless rim with a 16.3mm internal width, listed at 447g (700c, ERD 603mm) and 414g (650b, ERD 565mm) in 28 or 32 hole for 45mm to 2.5" tires. The Enterprise is a polished box-section rim, 16.3mm internal, not tubeless compatible, for 25-38mm tires; the 27" version keeps stainless steel eyelets while the 700c version is non-eyeletted.
Velo Orange publishes pressure guidance rather than test figures. For the Voyager it states "We recommend 110 kgf for these rims. You should try not to exceed 115 kgf" (units as printed on the product page), and for the Enterprise it recommends 90-110 kgf with a maximum of 115 kgf. Because of "the careful tolerances in construction", Velo Orange recommends only folding-bead tires on the Voyager. No impact, fatigue, ISO 4210 or rider weight figures are published for the rims.

Everything in this section is published by Velo Orange. ProWheelBuilder is the wheel builder, not the tester, and the rim reaches us as the maker ships it.
Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Velo Orange makes the Enterprise; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. Every Enterprise wheel we build gets spokes cut from the rim's measured ERD, is tensioned in stages with a gauge, stress-relieved and trued before it ships. Tubeless tape and a valve are fitted on request.
In the configurator you will only see parts that fit this drilling; combinations that are not made are struck through, and the price updates as you pick.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Velo Orange warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Velo Orange and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. If we lace this into a wheel for you, that wheel also carries ProWheelBuilder's own one-year warranty, which covers broken spokes regardless of cause and all wheel-related labor, including truing and rebuilding, for a year from purchase. Where a rim or hub is covered by its maker, we make the manufacturer's claim for you and coordinate it; where it is not, we offer an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off current retail. Shipping to and from us is the customer's. This cover does not extend to wheels built from components you supply yourself.

Enterprise Polished Rim questions
What tire width suits this rim?
At 16.3mm inside this is a road width. It suits roughly 25 to 32mm tires, which is where most road bikes now sit, and it will run a 23 if you still want one. Go much wider than 32 on this rim and the tire starts to balloon above the sidewalls and squirm when you lean on it.
Is the Enterprise tubeless?
No. It is a classic tube-type rim; the Voyager is the tubeless-compatible option.
Enterprise or Voyager?
Enterprise for 25 to 38mm tires and the classic box-section look; Voyager for wider tires and a tubeless option.
What tires fit the Enterprise?
25 to 38mm. A 32 to 35mm tire is the usual pairing on a randonneur bike.
Is the Enterprise disc compatible?
No. It is a rim-brake rim with a machined brake track.
Is it tubeless-ready?
Velo Orange lists the Enterprise Polished Rim as a clincher rim. Ask us about tubeless conversion if you need it.
Which spoke count should I choose?
It depends on your weight, terrain and the hub, not the rim alone. The configurator recommends a count from your bike type and rider weight, within the drillings this rim is made in.
