DT Swiss Pro Bladded Spoke Holder Black 1.0 1.3mm Wrench
The bladed spoke holder for 1.0 to 1.3mm blades - the thicker end of the aero spoke range. It slots over the blade and holds it still while the nipple is turned.
What it does
Bladed and aero spokes twist as the nipple turns, and a spoke that has been wound up unwinds later - taking the wheel's truth and some of its tension with it. A spoke holder grips the blade so the nipple can turn without the spoke following it.
Wind-up is the problem it solves and it is a sneaky one, because a wound-up spoke looks perfect on the stand. The wheel is true, the tension reads correctly, and then the spokes untwist over the first few rides and the wheel goes off. Holding the blade means what you built is what the rider gets.
What DT Swiss is unusual for is supporting what it sold. Hubs from several generations back are still serviceable with parts you can order, which is the context for a tool like this: it exists so a hub can be kept rather than replaced.
Fit and compatibility
For bladed spokes measuring 1.0 to 1.3mm across the blade. The 0.8 to 1.0mm holder is the red one - check your spoke before choosing.
How we use it at ProWheelBuilder

DT Swiss's warranty. DT Swiss covers its products against material and manufacturing defects for 24 months from purchase, excluding wear parts such as bearings and tubeless tape. Carbon rims and carbon wheels bought new since 1 January 2020 carry an extended guarantee to the first owner against defects in material and workmanship, and DT Swiss runs a paid crash-replacement scheme on carbon wheels for up to ten years from purchase.

How do I know which holder I need?
Measure the blade thickness. 1.0-1.3mm is this black one; 0.8-1.0mm is the red one. They overlap at 1.0mm, where either will hold.
