Industry Nine 1/1 MTB Front Black Centerlock Disc Hub
It has a labyrinth radial lip seal and end-cap proximity seals to keep water out, high-capacity bearings, and it is CNC-machined, anodized and assembled in Asheville, North Carolina. This page covers the Industry Nine 1/1 MTB Front Black Centerlock Disc Hub, the mountain-bike version in Boost or Superboost spacing.
The 1/1 is sold here only inside a wheel we build. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The shell is machined from aluminum bar with J-bend flanges in 28 and 32 hole, black anodized, with centerlock or 6-bolt rotor mounts.
Because the front 1/1 has no freehub, it is the hub that asks for the least: a spin of the axle to check the bearings once a season and nothing else. The flanges, bearings and seals are the same as the rear's, the axle converts between the front standards with end caps, and the rotor mounts the same way. Choose it to match a rear of the same model, or on its own for a fork that needs a new front wheel.
How it rides
It is the hub we suggest when a customer wants Industry Nine quality on a trail bike and would rather put the difference into a better rim.
On the road or the trail the front hub's job is to disappear: spin freely, keep water out, and hold the flanges still so the wheel tracks where you point it. The front 1/1 does that with the same bearings and seals as the rear and none of the rear's complexity, and because a front wheel carries less load and no torque it stays true longer than the rear on the same rim. When the rear finally needs a look, the front usually does not.

This version
This version is the centerlock hub in Thru Axle 15x110mm Boost, drilled for 28h, 32h, about 137g, in black. Those are the only things that differ between the versions of the 1/1; the shell, bearings and seals are the same.
Centerlock is the lighter, quicker rotor mount: a splined rotor drops onto the hub and a single lockring holds it, so a rotor swap takes a minute with a lockring tool and there are no six small bolts to torque or lose. Shimano and most current road and gravel rotors are centerlock; 6-bolt rotors fit with an adapter.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most 1/1 wheels with Sapim Race or D-Light spokes or DT Competition and brass nipples.
It pairs naturally with Industry Nine's own Grade 300, Triad and Sector rims, and with DT Swiss, Race Face, Stan's, WTB, Reserve and Nox rims that match its drilling. The configurator recommends spoke count and lacing from your bike type and weight.
Build it into a wheel
This hub is live in our Custom Wheel Program for mountain bike, MTB single-speed, fat bike and tandem and e-bike builds. Start a build with the Industry 9 1/1 MTB Front Black Centerlock Disc Hub and the configurator opens with this exact hub pinned at the top of the Industry Nine list — you choose the rest of the parts and it validates every combination as you go.
How Industry Nine tests its hubs
Industry Nine states it "has been anodizing & machining hubs, spokes, and drive systems in Asheville, NC since 2004" and that it engineers and manufactures every component of its hub and wheel systems in-house, including hub shells, axles, spokes and anodizing: "If it moves inside an I9 hub, we made it." Coverage of the Hydra2 launch (March 2025) reports Industry Nine drew on data from over 100,000 Hydra hubs in use to redesign the hub, with a 65% thicker axle "engineered for superior stress dissipation", larger 6903 bearings throughout, a labyrinth channel and full-contact radial lip seals against contamination. Industry Nine publishes no bearing-cycle, salt-spray, ISO 4210 or laboratory test figures for its hubs.
Warranty: Industry Nine states "Hubs are covered for five years against defects in materials and workmanship." Years 0-2 include parts, labor and return shipping; in years 3-5 parts are covered and labor and shipping may apply. Warranties apply to the original purchaser only with proof of purchase from a certified dealer; bearings and other normal wear items are excluded. Industry Nine says service needs only basic tools, "no proprietary tools are required".

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Industry Nine makes the 1/1 in Asheville, North Carolina; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Spokes are cut from the ERD we measure on the actual rim, the wheel comes up in stages on a tensiometer, and it is stress-relieved and trued before it goes in the box; tape and a valve go on if you ask.
The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.
Warranty
Industry Nine's warranty. Industry Nine covers its hubs against defects in materials and workmanship for five years from purchase, with two years on the anodized finish. Its alloy and carbon rims carry a lifetime defect warranty to the original purchaser, with parts, labor and return shipping covered for the first two years and parts thereafter. Bearing wear, impact and crash damage are not defects.
ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.

1/1 MTB Front Black Centerlock Disc Hub questions
Will my rotors fit this hub?
This is the centerlock version, so a splined centerlock rotor drops on and a lockring holds it - one tool, no six bolts to torque or lose. If your rotors are 6-bolt they will fit with a centerlock adapter, or take the 6-bolt version of the same hub, which is a separate listing.
Does the 1/1 come in colors?
The 1/1 is black. Industry Nine's full color range is on the Hydra 2 and SOLiX.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Industry Nine 1/1 MTB Front Black Centerlock Disc Hub?
We are not. Industry Nine manufactures the hub; ProWheelBuilder's part is the wheel: measuring, lacing, tensioning and truing it here in Georgia.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
Thru Axle 15x110mm Boost Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
Does it need special spokes?
No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
