Nextie Premium ARX-W carbon rim
The ARX-W puts Nextie's wave edge on the widest road bed it makes: a 25mm inner width for 30mm road tires up to light gravel tires, with an undulating outer edge that keeps a deep section steady in crosswinds. Three depths, 35, 45 and 65mm, from 350 grams.
Nextie designs and molds the rim; ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not the manufacturer. We build it into a complete wheel: pick the hub, spokes, nipples and lacing in the configurator and it ships laced, tensioned and trued.
Who it is for
The ARX-W is for the all-road rider who wants depth without the steering twitch a deep rim can bring in gusty conditions. The 25mm bed holds a 30 to 40mm tire square at road pressures and takes tires up to 55mm. It is a disc-brake, 24-hole rim, built for a 24-hole front and rear wheel set.
Sizes, weights and prices
3 sizes, in 29in / 700c, drilled 24h. Rim weights are Nextie's published figures; ERD is the effective rim diameter we cut spokes to, listed per wheel size.
| Size | Wheel | Inner width | Depth | ERD | Weight | Tire range | Drilling | Rim price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ARX-W 35 | 29in / 700c | 25mm | 35mm | 570 | 350g | 29-55mm | 24 | $295 |
| ARX-W 45 | 29in / 700c | 25mm | 45mm | 550 | 370g | 29-55mm | 24 | $305 |
| ARX-W 65 | 29in / 700c | 25mm | 65mm | 510 | 445g | 29-55mm | 24 | $325 |
How it compares
The CRX-W is the same wave idea on a narrower 22mm road bed. Without the wave, the CGX has the same 25mm bed in a gravel-oriented version with more drillings, and the Supreme Ocean 45G is the smooth-wall 45mm on a 25mm bed.
What the designations mean
Standard, Premium and Supreme
Nextie builds every rim in one of three editions. The mold is the same; the carbon grade, the spoke-bed process, the tolerances and the warranty step up with each tier.
| Standard | Premium | Supreme | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon fiber | Full Toray T700 | T700 with high-modulus T800 | T800 with ultra-light T1000 |
| Spoke bed | Standard layup | Independent mold for consistent spoke-hole thickness | Advanced Single-Point independent mold |
| Roundness / flatness | within 0.25mm | within 0.20mm | within 0.15mm |

Series codes
Every size in the list carries Nextie's own series code. Road and gravel codes are width classes, which set the tire size and the aero profile; MTB codes are duty cycles.
| Premium | Premium is Nextie's balanced edition: a T700 and high-modulus T800 carbon mix, an independent spoke-bed mold for consistent spoke-hole thickness, roundness and flatness within 0.20mm, and a 3-year factory warranty - stiffness, deflection control and weight in balance. |
|---|---|
| ARX-W / CRX-W / SGX-W | The -W suffix is Nextie's wave-edge profile: the outer edge undulates to keep a deep section steady in crosswinds. The bed is the same as the plain series. |
Material and construction
The Nextie Premium ARX-W is molded from carbon fiber in Nextie's Xiamen factory, in a UD (unidirectional) weave with a matte finish. Premium is Nextie's balanced edition: a T700 and high-modulus T800 carbon mix, an independent spoke-bed mold for consistent spoke-hole thickness, roundness and flatness within 0.20mm, and a 3-year factory warranty - stiffness, deflection control and weight in balance. The bed is tubeless-ready. Nextie rates these sizes for a maximum system weight of 139Kg; 149Kg; 154Kg (rider plus bike and gear).
How Nextie tests the Premium ARX-W
Nextie publishes its own lab results rather than a marketing line. Rims are impact-tested on a drop hammer to the UCI wheel-approval protocol and beyond it (a weighted hammer dropped onto the built, tensioned wheel until the rim fails, the energy recorded in joules), checked for positive and lateral stiffness under load, pulled to destruction at the spoke hole, measured for runout and roundness as a built wheel, and heat-soaked at 80°C for four hours. Every edition also carries a roundness and flatness tolerance, an ASTM riding-condition rating, a maximum system weight and a factory warranty, listed below.
Premium road rims are Toray T800 and T700 with rigidity and deflection controlled within 0.2mm, rated ASTM condition 2 with a maximum system weight of 151kg on the ARX sizes. Nextie publishes tire-pressure limits per bed: on the hooked ARX, 30 to 88psi for road, 27 to 77psi for gravel and 25 to 53psi for cyclocross tires; on the hookless bed 29 to 61psi road. They share the factory's drop-hammer, stiffness and spoke-hole protocol with the Alpha rims above and carry a three-year warranty; the NXT45RC road rim holds its own UCI approval certificate.
Certifications
The UCI's wheel approval procedure is the only independent certification that exists for bicycle rims: a wheel built on the rim is impact-tested and inspected under the UCI's protocol before it may be raced in UCI-sanctioned road, cyclocross and gravel events, and the certificate is published. Nextie has held UCI approval since September 2021 and adds models each year; it also states that its factory holds SGS test certification and industry production-system certifications, and it rates every rim to an ASTM riding-condition class.
The ARX-W sizes do not carry their own UCI certificate; Nextie's first approval, the NXT45RC (September 2021), came from the same Premium road program.

Weight
Weights run from 350g for the ARX-W 35 to 445g for the ARX-W 65. Rim weight is rotating weight at the outside of the wheel, so a gram saved here is felt more than a gram saved on the frame. The 25mm inner width decides the tire.
Value
Wave-edge rims are usually a premium-brand feature with a premium-brand price. The ARX-W brings it to Nextie's Premium edition, with a three-year warranty, direct from the mold; built here, it makes a deep all-road wheel set at about what alloy costs from the big names.
How we build it
Choose the size, the wheel diameter and a drilling (24h), and the configurator only offers hubs, spokes and lacing patterns that can actually be built with that combination. Start a build with the Nextie Premium ARX-W and the Custom Wheel Program opens with this rim already selected; from this page, the Build button carries the size, drilling and diameter you picked straight into the build. You can also send us a rim you already own with the supply-your-own option.
Spoke head is decided by the hub, not the rim: this rim builds equally well with J-bend or straight-pull spokes, and the configurator only offers the spokes that match the hub you pick.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nextie warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nextie and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Nextie Premium ARX-W questions
What does the -W wave edge do?
The outer edge of the rim undulates instead of running in a straight line. Nextie designs it to break up the airflow that makes a deep rim push sideways in a crosswind, so a 45 or 65mm rim steers more calmly on gusty days. The bed and tire fit are the same as a plain rim of the same width.
Why is the ARX-W only 24-hole?
Nextie molds the wave-edge rims in a single 24-hole drilling. For most riders that builds a strong front and rear wheel set; if you need more spokes, the CGX has the same 25mm bed in 24, 28 or 32 holes.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Nextie Premium ARX-W?
No. Nextie designs and manufactures the rim. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia: we buy the rim from Nextie and build it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Can I buy the Nextie Premium ARX-W on its own?
No. We supply Nextie rims only as part of a wheel we build, so every rim is laced, tensioned and trued here before it ships.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
