Nextie Road Carbon Wheelset
One listing for every Nextie road wheelset we offer, in both of Nextie's road editions. Supreme is the T800 / T1000 layup with a five-year warranty and the lowest weights Nextie makes: the Alpha 40, 45G, 50 and 55G, the Ripple 40 and 50, and the Ocean 45G. Premium is the T700 / T800 layup with a three-year warranty: the CRX 33, 45, 55 and 70, the road-gravel CGX 35, 45 and 60, and the wave-edge CRX-W 45 and 60 and ARX-W 35 and 45.
You choose the edition, the depth, the rim, the drilling, the spoke, the hub and the finish; Nextie laces, tensions and trues the pair in Xiamen and ships it complete. Every wheelset here is disc brake. If you need a rim-brake Nextie wheel, we build it from the rim-only listing in our Custom Wheel Program.
Design and construction
Start with the edition. Supreme rims use Toray T800 and T1000 fiber on Nextie's tightest molds (roundness and flatness within 0.15mm) and are the lightest road rims Nextie makes; an Alpha 40 is 290g. Premium rims mix T700 and high-modulus T800 (within 0.20mm) and are the balanced choice for stiffness, deflection control and price.
Then the depth. 33 to 35mm sections climb and handle crosswinds easily, 40 to 45mm is the all-round road depth, 50 to 55mm holds speed on the flat, and the 60 and 70mm CRX and CRX-W are for time trial, triathlon and fast flat courses.
The rim model is really a question of the tire you intend to run. CRX is the modern road bed at 21mm internal, tuned for 25 to 28c. The Alpha 40 and 50 are 23mm internal, the Ripple 24mm, and the Alpha G, Ocean, CGX and ARX-W are 25mm internal, the all-road proportion for 28 to 32c and light gravel tires. The -W suffix on CRX-W and ARX-W is Nextie's wave edge: the outer edge undulates so a deep section stays calmer in crosswinds. The Ripple gets its stiffness from a rippled inner wall at very low weight, and the Ocean is a smooth-wall aero profile for fast gravel and all-road.
Drilling is 20 or 24 hole where the rim allows it: the CRX and Ripple come both ways, the Alpha 40 is 20 hole only, and the Alpha 45G, 50 and 55G, Ocean, CGX, CRX-W and ARX-W are 24 hole. The wheel is laced with Sapim Race or bladed CX-Ray spokes and black alloy nipples.
How it rides
A deep rim is not automatically a fast rim for a given rider. If you climb more than you time trial, a 40 or 45mm Alpha or CRX will feel better under you than a 60. If your riding is exposed or your routes cross open country, the wave-edge CRX-W and ARX-W are worth the look, because a 45 or 60mm section in a gusting crosswind asks for constant small corrections and the undulating edge reduces that.
Width matters more than most riders expect. A 21mm bed holds a 28c tire in a rounder profile than an old 15mm rim did; a 25mm bed does the same for 30 to 32c, which is what makes modern tires feel planted at lower pressure without squirming in corners. The Alpha G, Ocean and CGX are the rims to choose if your road bike also sees dirt.
The hub choice is between the Rollingstar II Road in 24 hole and the lighter Rollingstar III Road in 20 or 24 hole. The 20-hole build on a CRX, Ripple or Alpha 40 is the lightest way through this range and suits a lighter rider on smooth roads; 24 hole is the safer all-round choice.

This listing
This listing is the Nextie road wheelset as Nextie sells it, one pair at a time. Pick the Quality of Carbon (Supreme or Premium), the depth band, the rim model, the drilling (20H or 24H), the spokes (Sapim Race or CX-Ray), then the hub (Rollingstar II Road 24H, Rollingstar III Road 20H or 24H), the driver (Shimano Road HG, Shimano Micro Spline Road 12S, SRAM XDR or Campagnolo N3W 13S), the finish (UD Matte or UD Glossy), the bead type where the rim offers a choice, and the decals (none, outline white, solid black, glossy solid black or solid chromium). The page only shows combinations Nextie makes, and the price at the top is always the cheapest complete wheelset that fits what you have picked so far. Prices follow Nextie's own list.
Fit and compatibility
Fitment is 700c, 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear thru-axle, centerlock disc, with Shimano Road HG, Shimano Micro Spline Road 12S, SRAM XDR or Campagnolo N3W freehub bodies. Every rim here is tubeless-ready; tape and valves are not included.
Hooked or hookless is part of the rim choice. Where Nextie makes a rim hookless the option is offered; hookless limits you to tubeless tires the maker approves for hookless use and to their pressure ceiling, so check the tire first. The 20-hole option only appears on rims drilled for it.
Rim finish is UD Matte or UD Glossy, with optional decals. Spokes are Sapim with black alloy nipples, and the hub is black.
Ordering it from ProWheelBuilder
Nextie builds each wheelset to order in Xiamen, so allow roughly two weeks for the build plus transit. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia and a Nextie dealer. We do not manufacture these wheels; Nextie does, and the five-year Supreme or three-year Premium warranty is theirs.
We also sell every one of these rims on its own, plus the RX series and the rim-brake versions of the CRX and RX, and lace them here to any hub, spoke count and pattern you like. That is the route for a rim-brake bike, a dynamo front wheel, a wheel matched to one you already own, or a rider who wants a spoke count the factory build does not offer.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Nextie warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Nextie and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Because this wheelset comes assembled from its maker, the warranty that applies is theirs, set out above; ProWheelBuilder's one-year wheel warranty is for wheels we build here. Either way, a claim goes through us and we will manage it.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Nextie road wheelset questions
Supreme or Premium?
Supreme is lighter (a 40mm Alpha at 290g against a 33mm CRX at 335g), carries the five-year warranty and costs more. Premium is the balanced edition and where most road riders land. The price on each edition row shows the cheapest complete wheelset in that edition.
Which depth?
33 to 45mm for climbing, mixed terrain and windy days; 50 to 55mm for fast group rides and racing on the flat; 60 and 70mm for time trial and triathlon.
Which rim for 30c and wider tires?
The 25mm-internal rims: Alpha 45G and 55G, Ocean 45G, CGX and ARX-W. The 21mm CRX is happiest on 25 to 28c.
Can I get these for a rim-brake bike?
Not as a factory wheelset. We build rim-brake Nextie wheels from the CRX and RX rim-brake rims in the Custom Wheel Program, on the hub of your choice.
20 hole or 24 hole?
24 hole is the safer all-round choice. The 20-hole Rollingstar III build is lighter and suits a lighter rider on good roads.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer?
No. Nextie builds the wheelset in Xiamen, China. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder and retailer in Georgia that sells it and checks your axle and freehub choices before the order goes in.
