Shimano Dura ACE FH 7600 Low Flange Track Rear Hub
The Shimano Dura-Ace 7600 is the track hub that keirin racers in Japan are required to use and that velodrome riders everywhere choose anyway: a low-flange fixed-gear hub with cup-and-cone bearings, fixed threading with a lockring, a 120mm bolt-on axle, NJS approval and the polish and precision of Dura-Ace. The FH-7600 is the rear and the HB-7600 the front, in 28, 32 and 36 hole. This page covers the Shimano Dura ACE FH 7600 Low Flange Track Rear Hub.
The Dura-Ace 7600 is sold here only inside a wheel we build. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The 7600 runs loose balls between cones and cups, adjusted with cone wrenches and locked with a nut, and the bearings are the smoothest Shimano makes; a Dura-Ace track hub set up properly spins for what feels like minutes. The rear has fixed threading on one side with a reverse-threaded lockring, and the low flanges are drilled for J-bend spokes. The axle is a solid bolt-on with track nuts, which is what a track dropout wants. NJS approval means the hub meets the standards of Japanese keirin racing, which is as strict as bicycle component standards get.
How it rides
A Dura-Ace 7600 wheel is the velodrome standard: silent, frictionless and precise, with a fixed cog that stays put under sprinting and skidding. On the street it is the classic fixed-gear hub for riders who want the best. For a sealed-bearing alternative the Phil Wood and White Industries track hubs are the step sideways; for the velodrome and the purist, the Dura-Ace 7600 is the track hub we recommend.

This version
This version is the rim-brake hub in Bolt On 10x120mm, drilled for 28h, 32h, about 289g, in silver. Those are the only things that differ between the versions of the Dura-Ace 7600 track; the shell, bearings and seals are the same.
This is the rim-brake Dura-Ace 7600 track, with no rotor mount at all: a lighter, simpler shell for road, track and classic frames that stop on the rim. It builds into the lightest wheel the model can make and it is the version to choose for a rim-brake bike; the disc versions of the same hub have their own listings.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Shimano Dura ACE FH 7600 Low Flange Track Rear Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page in 120mm bolt-on spacing with fixed threading and a lockring. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most track wheels with DT Champion or Sapim Race and Laser spokes and brass nipples.
It pairs naturally with the Dura-Ace HB-7600 front, and with the Velocity Deep V and Aerohead, H Plus Son Archetype and TB14 and any track rim in the catalog that matches its drilling. Pick track or fixed-gear as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern.

How Shimano tests its hubs
Shimano publishes no load, fatigue, or salt-spray figures for its hubs. Its US warranty states that most bicycle products are warranted free from defects in material and workmanship for two years from original purchase, and that DURA-ACE and XTR components and wheels are covered for three years, for the original owner with proof of purchase. Competition or commercial use, improper assembly or repair, finish deterioration, labor, and normal wear are excluded; bearings, corrosion, dust seals and spokes are listed as wear parts.
stated engagement is 10 degrees (TC600), 15 degrees (TC500/QC500) and 22.5 degrees (QC400/QC300), with interchangeable Micro Spline and HG freehub bodies. The warranty lists free hubs, driver bodies and pawls as wear parts not covered.
Certifications
- Warranty: 2 years / 3 years — Most bicycle products two years from original purchase; DURA-ACE and XTR components and wheels three years; original owner, proof of purchase; wear parts excluded (bearings, dust seals, free hubs, driver bodies, pawls, spokes) (source)
- ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (Malaysian wheel/hub factory) — Reported by Bicycle Retailer, 19 Dec 2007: factory producing wheels incl. Dura-Ace, hubs, cranks, pedals is “ISO 9001 and 14001” compliant; 89,000 sq m, 2,087 employees (source)

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Shimano makes the Dura-Ace 7600; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Cup-and-cone hubs reward a builder who sets the preload properly, and every 7600 wheel we build leaves with the cones adjusted, spokes cut from the measured ERD of the rim, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief and a final true.
The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.
Warranty
Shimano's warranty. Shimano covers its bicycle components for two years from original purchase, with three years on DURA-ACE and XTR and one year on wheels, footwear and soft goods. Shimano's obligation is to repair or replace at its option, against the original dated receipt.
ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.

Dura ACE FH 7600 Low Flange Track Rear Hub questions
Can I use this hub with disc brakes?
No - this is the rim-brake version and it has no rotor mount at all, which is exactly why it is lighter and simpler. It is the one for a rim-brake road, track or classic frame. A disc frame needs one of the disc versions of this hub, which are listed separately.
What does NJS mean?
Nihon Jitensha Shinkokai, the Japanese keirin association; NJS-approved parts meet its standards and are required for keirin racing in Japan.
Is the 7600 fixed only?
Yes. The FH-7600 has fixed threading with a lockring; it is not a flip-flop hub.
Which spacing is the 7600?
100mm front and 120mm rear, the track standard, with bolt-on axles and track nuts.
Why cup-and-cone bearings?
Adjustable, rebuildable and, on Dura-Ace, the smoothest Shimano makes; we set the preload before the wheel ships.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Shimano Dura ACE FH 7600 Low Flange Track Rear Hub?
No. Shimano makes the hub. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia that builds it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
Bolt On 10x120mm Rear. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
