Velocity Standard ATB Front Black ISO 6 Bolt 20x110 Disc Hub

This page covers the Velocity Standard ATB Front Black ISO 6 Bolt 20x110 Disc Hub, the 20 x 110mm thru-axle front version for older downhill and freeride forks and the fat and dirt-jump forks that still use that standard.

A 20mm front hub is getting hard to find, and the Standard ATB in 20 x 110 is one of the few sealed-bearing options left at a sensible price. It builds into a stiff front wheel on any 6-bolt disc rim.

The Velocity Standard ATB hub is sold here only inside a wheel we build. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.

Design and construction

The Standard ATB hubshell is machined from aluminum with conventional J-bend flanges and an ISO 6-bolt rotor mount. Bearings are sealed cartridge units in common sizes, so replacement years down the line is a ten-minute job with a bearing press.

Because the front Standard ATB has no freehub, it is the hub that asks for the least: a spin of the axle to check the bearings once a season and nothing else. The flanges, bearings and seals are the same as the rear's, the axle converts between the front standards with end caps, and the rotor mounts the same way. Choose it to match a rear of the same model, or on its own for a fork that needs a new front wheel.

How it rides

We build a lot of Standard ATB wheels for riders replacing a worn stock wheel who want something that will last and do not need a badge.

Front wheels on disc bikes take a beating from braking: the rotor side sees the whole braking torque and the spokes on that side run at higher tension. That is why we build the front Standard ATB with the rotor-side spokes crossed and tensioned to the rim's limit, and why the hub's flange spacing matters more than its weight. Ridden on a rim-brake bike the same hub makes one of the lightest, simplest front wheels there is.

This version

This version is the 6-bolt hub in Thru Axle 20x110mm, drilled for 32h, about 260g, in black. Those are the only things that differ between the versions of the Standard ATB; the shell, bearings and seals are the same.

This is the 6-bolt Standard ATB: the rotor bolts to a flange with six T25 bolts, which is the mount most mountain and gravel rotors still use and the easiest to find a rotor for on the road. If you run centerlock rotors, choose the centerlock version of the same hub instead.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

The Velocity Standard ATB Front Black ISO 6 Bolt 20x110 Disc Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page in 20 x 110mm thru-axle spacing with a 6-bolt rotor mount. It takes J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most 20mm front wheels with DT Champion or Sapim Race spokes and brass nipples.

It pairs with the Velocity Blunt 35, Dually and Cliffhanger, and with any 6-bolt disc rim in the catalog that matches its drilling. The configurator recommends spoke count and lacing from your bike type and weight.

Build a wheel around it

Offered for gravel and road disc, mountain bike, MTB single-speed, fat bike and tandem and e-bike builds in our Custom Wheel Program. Start with the VELOCITY STANDARD ATB FRONT BLACK ISO 6 BOLT 20x110 DISC HUB and the configurator pins it for you, then checks each choice you make against it.

How Velocity tests its hubs

Velocity USA offers hubs under its own name for road, gravel, mountain, touring, tandem and track use.

Warranty matches all Velocity products: defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product, excluding normal wear and tear, accidents, misuse, improper assembly or maintenance; repair or replacement at Velocity's discretion.

Sources on Velocity's site:

Velocity publishes those results; ProWheelBuilder builds the hub into a wheel and does not test it in a lab.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

Velocity USA assembles the Standard ATB hub; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Spokes are cut from the ERD we measure on the actual rim, the wheel comes up in stages on a tensiometer, and it is stress-relieved and trued before it goes in the box; tape and a valve go on if you ask.

The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.

Warranty

Velocity's warranty. Velocity warrants its rims against defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product, repairing or replacing at its option. Normal wear, accidents, misuse, improper assembly and poor maintenance are excluded.

ProWheelBuilder. Wheels we build around this part are covered by our own one-year warranty alongside the maker's. Within the year: broken spokes replaced regardless of cause, and the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning or a complete rebuild - included. A manufacturer-covered rim or hub failure is a claim we make and manage for you; one they will not cover is answered with an eligible replacement at 25% off retail. Shipping each way is yours. Parts you supply yourself fall outside it.

Standard ATB Front Black ISO 6 Bolt 20x110 Disc Hub questions

Will my rotors fit this hub?

This is the 6-bolt version: any ISO 6-bolt rotor bolts straight on with six T25 bolts, which is still the most common and the easiest rotor to replace anywhere. Centerlock rotors do not fit it - for those, take the centerlock version of the same hub, listed separately.

What does ATB mean?

All-terrain bike, Velocity's traditional name for a mountain-bike hub. The Standard ATB is a 6-bolt disc MTB hub.

Standard ATB or Race hub?

The Race is lighter and comes in colors; the Standard ATB is cheaper and black. Both are reliable sealed-bearing hubs with similar internals.

Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Velocity Standard ATB Front Black ISO 6 Bolt 20x110 Disc Hub?

We are not. Velocity manufactures the hub; ProWheelBuilder's part is the wheel: measuring, lacing, tensioning and truing it here in Georgia.

Which axle spacing does it fit?

Thru Axle 20x110mm Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.

Does it need special spokes?

No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.

How long will the wheel take?

Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
