Velocity Velo Plugs Red 7mm to 8mm Holes
Velo Plugs are Velocity's alternative to rim tape: individual plugs that push into each spoke hole and seal it. One per hole, fitted once, and there is no strip of tape to slip, wrinkle, stretch or get sticky in the heat.
What it does
The appeal is durability and serviceability. Tape has to be removed and replaced to get at a nipple, which means a wheel that needs one spoke replacing needs re-taping as well. Plugs come out individually with a pick, the spoke gets changed, and the plug goes back - no re-taping, no waiting for anything to settle.
They also do not creep. Rim tape under a tight tire bead at pressure will move a little over time and in heat, and a strip that has crept is a strip that has uncovered a hole edge. A plug cannot migrate because it is sitting in the hole it seals.
The red plugs are sized for 7mm to 8mm spoke holes. Hole diameter varies more between rims than you would expect, so it is worth measuring rather than assuming.
Fit and compatibility
For rims with 7mm to 8mm spoke holes. Larger 8.5mm to 9.3mm holes take the yellow plugs. Measure a hole before ordering, or tell us the rim and we will check.

Warranty
Velocity's warranty. Velocity warrants its rims against defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product, repairing or replacing at its option. Normal wear, accidents, misuse, improper assembly and poor maintenance are excluded.

Red or yellow?
By spoke hole diameter: red for 7-8mm, yellow for 8.5-9.3mm. Measure a hole in your rim - it is the only reliable way to tell.
Are these tubeless-ready?
They are a rim strip alternative. If you are setting up tubeless, talk to us about your specific rim before relying on them to hold sealant and pressure.
What if I break a spoke?
Pick the plug out, replace the spoke, push the plug back in. That is the main practical advantage over tape.
