Velocity Velo Plugs Yellow 8.5mm to 9.3mm Holes
The yellow Velo Plugs, sized for larger spoke holes of 8.5mm to 9.3mm. Same idea as the smaller red ones: a plug per spoke hole in place of a continuous strip of rim tape.
What it does
Bigger holes are where tape has the hardest time. A wide hole gives the tape more unsupported span to bridge, and unsupported tape under a tire at pressure is what eventually dimples down into the hole and splits. A plug fills the hole instead of spanning it, so there is nothing to dimple.
Fitting is a job you do once. Press each plug in until it seats flush with the spoke bed - proud plugs interfere with the tire bead, and under-seated ones leave a lip for the tube or the tape to find.
Sizing is unforgiving in the useful sense: a plug that is right stays put, and a plug that is wrong will not seat at all, so you find out immediately rather than on a ride.
Fit and compatibility
For rims with 8.5mm to 9.3mm spoke holes. Smaller 7mm to 8mm holes take the red plugs. Measure before ordering.

How do I measure my spoke holes?
Callipers across a hole in the spoke bed. If you do not have a pair, tell us the rim model and we will look it up.
Do they work with any rim?
Any rim whose spoke holes fall in the size range and whose bed is flat enough for the plug to seat flush. Deep channels are worth asking about first.
How many do I need?
One per spoke hole - so a 32-hole rim needs 32.
