White Industries CLD Front BOOST Centerlock Disc Hub
The White Industries CLD is the centerlock disc hub from a company that has been machining hubs in Petaluma, California for more than thirty years, and it is the White Industries hub we build most. It is machined from 6061 aluminum, anodized in a range of colors, and rebuildable for life. This page covers the White Industries CLD Front BOOST Centerlock Disc Hub.
The CLD is built to order here. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator; the wheel leaves Georgia laced, tensioned and trued.
Design and construction
Rotors mount by centerlock, end caps swap for 12 x 100 and 12 x 142 thru-axle or quick release, and the CLD+ version covers Boost MTB spacing.
Every part is replaceable and White Industries still stocks spares for hubs it made decades ago. Anodized colors match its cranks and headsets.
The logos are engraved after anodising rather than before, cutting back through the color to the bare aluminum underneath. It is why the lettering on a White Industries hub stays crisp and keeps its contrast instead of softening as the finish ages.
A front hub is a bearing carrier with flanges, and that is the whole job of the front CLD: two sealed bearings on a stiff axle, end caps for your fork's standard, and flanges spaced to give the spokes a good bracing angle on the rotor side. There is nothing to engage and nothing to swap. Everything written about freehubs and engagement applies to the rear hub only; what you get up front is the same shell quality and the same seals without any of the moving parts.
How it rides
It is the hub we suggest for a road, gravel or touring disc wheel that the customer intends to keep, and for anyone who wants an American-made hub in a color.
On the road or the trail the front hub's job is to disappear: spin freely, keep water out, and hold the flanges still so the wheel tracks where you point it. The front CLD does that with the same bearings and seals as the rear and none of the rear's complexity, and because a front wheel carries less load and no torque it stays true longer than the rear on the same rim. When the rear finally needs a look, the front usually does not.

Which version this is
Version notes. Centerlock rotor mount, Thru Axle 15x110mm Boost, Thru Axle 12x110mm Boost, 24h, 28h, 32h, 36h, about 164g, in polished, black, blue, gold, pink, purple, red. If your frame or fork uses a different standard, the other versions of the CLD on this site cover it.
Centerlock is the lighter, quicker rotor mount: a splined rotor drops onto the hub and a single lockring holds it, so a rotor swap takes a minute with a lockring tool and there are no six small bolts to torque or lose. Shimano and most current road and gravel rotors are centerlock; 6-bolt rotors fit with an adapter.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most CLD wheels with Sapim CX-Ray, Laser or Race spokes or DT Aerolite and Competition and brass or alloy nipples.
It pairs naturally with HED Belgium, Boyd Altamont and CCC, DT Swiss RR and GR, Velocity Aileron, ENVE G-Series, Reserve and Nox gravel rims that match its drilling. Tell the configurator your bike type and weight and it suggests a spoke count and lacing pattern to suit.
Build a wheel around it
Offered for gravel and road disc, mountain bike, MTB single-speed, fat bike and touring builds in our Custom Wheel Program. Start with the White Industries CLD Front Boost Centerlock Disc Hub and the configurator pins it for you, then checks each choice you make against it.
White Industries's testing and certifications
White Industries states that every hub is CNC-machined, hand-assembled, and inspected in its Petaluma, California facility, keeping “machining, assembly, quality control, and operations under one roof”. Founded in 1978 with about 20 employees, the company says it has been designing, machining, assembling, and testing components in Northern California for more than four decades in a 100% solar-powered shop using domestically sourced raw materials. It publishes no load, fatigue, or salt-spray test figures.
White Industries states it has partnered with Enduro on bearings since 1996. Shells are 6061-T6 aluminum, polished then anodized; bearing preload is adjustable and hubs are described as easily serviceable and rebuildable. Weights: CLD front 146 g, CLD rear 280 g, T11 rear 248 g.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
White Industries makes the CLD in Petaluma, California; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. The build is the same every time: measured ERD, spokes cut to the half millimeter, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief, a final true, and tubeless tape and a valve on request.
The configurator shows only rims and spokes that fit the CLD's drilling and color, strikes through combinations that are not made, and prices the wheel live.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. White Industries warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by White Industries and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. If we lace this into a wheel for you, that wheel also carries ProWheelBuilder's own one-year warranty, which covers broken spokes regardless of cause and all wheel-related labor, including truing and rebuilding, for a year from purchase. Where a rim or hub is covered by its maker, we make the manufacturer's claim for you and coordinate it; where it is not, we offer an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off current retail. Shipping to and from us is the customer's. This cover does not extend to wheels built from components you supply yourself.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
CLD Front BOOST Centerlock Disc Hub questions
Will my rotors fit this hub?
This is the centerlock version, so a splined centerlock rotor drops on and a lockring holds it - one tool, no six bolts to torque or lose. If your rotors are 6-bolt they will fit with a centerlock adapter, or take the 6-bolt version of the same hub, which is a separate listing.
Is the CLD Boost compatible?
The standard CLD is 12 x 100 and 12 x 142; the CLD+ is the Boost version. Pick the one that matches your frame.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the White Industries CLD Front BOOST Centerlock Disc Hub?
No. The hub is made by White Industries; we are the wheel builder in Georgia who laces it into a finished wheel to your spec and stands behind the build.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
Thru Axle 15x110mm Boost Front or Thru Axle 12x110mm Boost Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
Does it need special spokes?
No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
