Wolf Tooth Mountain Boost Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub
Wolf Tooth's mountain rear hub: 12x148mm Boost, 6-bolt rotor mount, J-bend spokes in 28 or 32 holes, and ENVE's INNERDRIVE star ratchet with 60 teeth for 6-degree engagement. It is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum in Minnesota and weighs 246 grams with an XD freehub, 254 with Micro Spline.
Buy the hub, or have us build it into a rear wheel in the Custom Wheel Program, laced and trued by hand in Georgia.
Design and construction
The drive is two 42mm steel ratchet rings held together by a spring - no pawls, no small springs under them, nothing to snap. Load is spread across the whole ratchet face, which is why star ratchets have a reputation for surviving hard mountain use.
Both flanges are 54.6mm across the spoke holes, with the non-drive flange 36mm from center and the drive side 23.5mm, a wide stance for a Boost rear that keeps the drive-side spokes from carrying all of the wheel's tension.
How it rides
Sixty teeth engage every 6 degrees: quick enough that a ratchety climb or a half-pedal stroke between rocks picks up almost immediately, with a distinct but not shrill freehub sound. Wolf Tooth offers 80 and 100-tooth ratchets for faster pickup still, and they swap in later if your riding changes.
It is built for trail and enduro riding, and suits a cross-country race wheel where you want reliability over the last few grams.

This listing
Choose 28 or 32 holes, an XD or Micro Spline freehub, and a color. Not every combination is stocked by our distributor - blue, orange and red come in 28 holes with the XD freehub - and the configurator strikes through the ones that are not available rather than letting you order them.
The ratchet is the 60-tooth; Wolf Tooth's HG freehub and its 80 and 100-tooth ratchets are not carried on this listing.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
Fits 12x148mm Boost frames, the current mountain standard, with 6-bolt rotors. XD takes SRAM's mountain cassettes, Eagle and T-Type included; Micro Spline takes Shimano's 12-speed mountain cassettes.
J-bend spokes only; we build most Wolf Tooth mountain rears with Sapim Race or Laser and brass or alloy nipples. The Wolf Tooth Mountain Boost front completes the set in the same colors.
Build a wheel around it
Offered for geared mountain builds in our Custom Wheel Program. Start with the Wolf Tooth Mountain Boost Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub and the configurator pins it for you, then checks each choice you make against it.
What Wolf Tooth says about testing
Wolf Tooth says its hub shells, machined in the USA, "have been thoroughly tested in the lab and in the field", and that the ENVE INNERDRIVE internals "have also undergone thorough testing in real world conditions, races and all types of weather". INNERDRIVE is the drive ENVE uses in its own mountain hubs. Wolf Tooth does not publish bearing-life, salt-spray or ISO 4210 figures for these hubs.

Everything in this section is published by Wolf Tooth. ProWheelBuilder is the wheel builder, not the tester, and the hub reaches us as the maker ships it.
Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Wolf Tooth makes the hub and ProWheelBuilder, an independent wheel builder in Georgia, builds the wheel: spokes cut to your rim's measured ERD, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief and a final true.
Only rims drilled to your chosen hole count are offered, and unavailable color and freehub pairings are struck through as you choose.
Warranty
Wolf Tooth's warranty. Wolf Tooth warrants its hubs against defects in material or workmanship for five years from purchase, to the original owner and with proof of purchase, repairing or replacing the defective parts at its discretion. Bearings, normal wear including fading of the anodized finish, routine maintenance and improper installation or use are not covered, and Wolf Tooth asks to be contacted before anything is returned.
ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.

Mountain Boost Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub questions
XD or Micro Spline?
XD for SRAM mountain cassettes, including Eagle and T-Type; Micro Spline for Shimano 12-speed mountain cassettes.
Why is blue not available in 32 holes?
Our distributor stocks blue, orange and red in 28 holes with the XD freehub only. Black, gold and ultraviolet purple come in every option we list.
Can I change the engagement?
Yes. Wolf Tooth sells 80 and 100-tooth INNERDRIVE ratchets that replace the 60-tooth without special tools.
Does it fit a 142mm frame?
No - it is a 12x148mm Boost hub.
Will it work on an e-MTB?
Wolf Tooth does not publish an e-bike rating for this hub, so we do not claim one. Text us about your bike before ordering.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
