Hope Pro 4 Fat SNO Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub

The Hope Pro 4 Fatsno is Hope's fat-bike hub, machined in Barnoldswick, England: the Pro 4 design in 150mm front and 170 to 197mm rear spacing, with sealed stainless cartridge bearings, a 44-tooth pawl freehub on the rear, a 6-bolt rotor mount, 32 hole drilling and Hope's anodized colors. It is the fat-bike hub for riders who want Hope's reputation for surviving mud, slush and salt under a wheel that sees all three. This page covers the Hope Pro 4 Fat SNO Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub.

The Fatsno comes from us only as a finished wheel: pick the rim, spokes and nipples, and we lace, tension and true it by hand in Georgia before it ships.

Design and construction

The Fatsno is the Pro 4 stretched to fat-bike spacing: 150mm at the front and 170 to 197mm at the rear, which pushes the flanges far apart and puts a wide twisting load through the bearings. Hope uses sealed stainless cartridge bearings here rather than standard steel, because a fat bike spends its life in exactly the salt, snow and meltwater that kills an ordinary bearing.

Machined in Barnoldswick in Hope's anodized colors. On a bike that is mostly ridden in winter, a hub whose every spare is still stocked is worth more than a few grams saved.

How it rides

A Fatsno engages quickly enough for snow and sand climbing, coasts with the Hope buzz, and shrugs off winter; the sealed stainless bearings and Hope's seals are built for British weather, which is worse than most fat-bike winters. It comes in colors, which on a fat bike is a nice touch. It is the Hope hub for fat bikes; for trail bikes the Pro 5 is the choice.

About this listing

What sets this listing apart from the other Fatsno versions: 6-bolt rotor mount, QR 5x170mm, Thru Axle 12x170mm, Thru Axle 12x177mm, QR 5x190mm and more, 32h drilling, about 367g, in black, blue, orange, purple, red, silver. Pick the one that matches your frame and rotor and the rest of the hub is identical.

Six-bolt is the original disc mount and still the most universal: any ISO 6-bolt rotor from any brand bolts straight on, rotors are cheap and easy to find anywhere, and the six-bolt flange is a robust, simple interface that has been on mountain bikes for twenty-five years. Centerlock rotors do not fit it.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

The Hope Pro 4 Fat SNO Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page in 150mm front and 170, 177 or 197mm rear spacing with a 6-bolt rotor mount and HG, XD or Micro Spline freehub. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most fat wheels with Sapim Race or DT Competition spokes and brass nipples.

It pairs with the HED Big Deal and Big Aluminum Deal, DT Swiss BR 710, Sun Ringle Mulefut and Surly fat rims in the catalog. Pick fat bike as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern for the offset.

Testing, standards and warranty at Hope

Hope Technology states that since 1989 it has been "designing, testing and manufacturing virtually all products in-house at the factory in Barnoldswick, United Kingdom", and that "Virtually everything we do is developed, prototyped, machined, anodized and assembled on site." Pro 5 hub shells are "Machined from forged 2014 T6 Aluminum billet" with "Sealed stainless Steel cartridge bearings throughout", and every hub is "Fully serviceable and rebuildable with simple tools." Hope's About page cites almost 100 staff and 55 CNC machines; a June 2025 factory report counted 80 CNC machines and about 140 employees and stated "Random components are plucked from production and tested in the company's in-house fatigue and destructive testing facilities." A Renishaw case study quotes Hope's operations manager: "We take components off the line on a regular basis for sample measurement on the CMM", with output of 70,000 wheel hubs a year. Hope publishes no ISO 4210 or salt-spray figures.

the Pro 5 freehub uses an offset six-pawl design with engagement increased from 44 to 108 points, "3 pawls are engaged at any time", "Wire cut pawls from high strength steel", a zero-drag labyrinth seal and a step-down axle for a stiffer freehub; the e-bike version uses a stainless steel driver.

The figures, certificates and media above are Hope's own. ProWheelBuilder does not run these tests; our part is the wheel we build on the hub.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

Hope makes the Fatsno; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. We measure the rim before we cut a spoke, bring the wheel up in three or four rounds with a gauge, stress-relieve it between rounds and true it last, then tape it and fit a valve if you want it tubeless.

Only compatible hubs and spokes appear in the configurator, impossible combinations are struck through rather than hidden, and the price is live.

Warranty

Manufacturer's warranty. Hope warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Hope and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.

ProWheelBuilder. Lace this into a wheel here and the finished wheel gets our own one-year warranty as well as the maker's. For twelve months we replace broken spokes however they broke, and the work on the wheel is on us - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild where it is needed. If the rim or hub is covered by its manufacturer we put the claim in and chase it; if it is not, we supply an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off the current retail price. Carriage both ways is the customer's, and this does not cover wheels built from parts you send in.

Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.

Pro 4 Fat SNO Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub questions

Will my rotors fit this hub?

This is the 6-bolt version: any ISO 6-bolt rotor bolts straight on with six T25 bolts, which is still the most common and the easiest rotor to replace anywhere. Centerlock rotors do not fit it - for those, take the centerlock version of the same hub, listed separately.

What spacing is the Fatsno?

150mm front and 170, 177 or 197mm rear, selectable in the configurator.

Is the Fatsno good for winter?

Yes. Hope's sealed stainless bearings and seals are designed for British mud and wet, and a clean and regrease each spring keeps it happy.

Which freehub bodies fit?

Shimano HG, SRAM XD and Shimano Micro Spline.

Which colors?

Hope's anodized range: black, silver, red, blue, orange and purple among them; the colors in stock are listed in the configurator.

Which axle spacing does it fit?

QR 5x170mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x170mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x177mm Rear or QR 5x190mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x190mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x197mm Rear. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.

Does it need special spokes?

No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
