Hope Pro 4 Fat SNO Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub

It is the fat-bike hub for riders who want Hope's reputation for surviving mud, slush and salt under a wheel that sees all three. This page covers the Hope Pro 4 Fat SNO Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub.

The Fatsno is sold here only inside a wheel we build. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.

Design and construction

The Fatsno is the Pro 4 stretched to fat-bike spacing: 150mm at the front and 170 to 197mm at the rear, which pushes the flanges far apart and puts a wide twisting load through the bearings. Hope uses sealed stainless cartridge bearings here rather than standard steel, because a fat bike spends its life in exactly the salt, snow and meltwater that kills an ordinary bearing.

Machined in Barnoldswick in Hope's anodized colors. On a bike that is mostly ridden in winter, a hub whose every spare is still stocked is worth more than a few grams saved.

Because the front Fatsno has no freehub, it is the hub that asks for the least: a spin of the axle to check the bearings once a season and nothing else. The flanges, bearings and seals are the same as the rear's, the axle converts between the front standards with end caps, and the rotor mounts the same way. Choose it to match a rear of the same model, or on its own for a fork that needs a new front wheel.

How it rides

It comes in colors, which on a fat bike is a nice touch. It is the Hope hub for fat bikes; for trail bikes the Pro 5 is the choice.

Front wheels on disc bikes take a beating from braking: the rotor side sees the whole braking torque and the spokes on that side run at higher tension. That is why we build the front Fatsno with the rotor-side spokes crossed and tensioned to the rim's limit, and why the hub's flange spacing matters more than its weight. Ridden on a rim-brake bike the same hub makes one of the lightest, simplest front wheels there is.

This version

This version is the 6-bolt hub in QR 5x135mm, Thru Axle 15x135mm, Thru Axle 15x142mm, Thru Axle 15x150mm, drilled for 32h, about 255g, in black, blue, orange, purple, red, silver. Those are the only things that differ between the versions of the Fatsno; the shell, bearings and seals are the same.

Six-bolt is the original disc mount and still the most universal: any ISO 6-bolt rotor from any brand bolts straight on, rotors are cheap and easy to find anywhere, and the six-bolt flange is a robust, simple interface that has been on mountain bikes for twenty-five years. Centerlock rotors do not fit it.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most fat wheels with Sapim Race or DT Competition spokes and brass nipples.

It pairs with the HED Big Deal and Big Aluminum Deal, DT Swiss BR 710, Sun Ringle Mulefut and Surly fat rims in the catalog. Pick fat bike as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern for the offset.

Build it with us

We build this hub to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the Hope Pro 4 Fat Sno Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for fat bike builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.

How Hope tests its hubs

Hope Technology states that since 1989 it has been "designing, testing and manufacturing virtually all products in-house at the factory in Barnoldswick, United Kingdom", and that "Virtually everything we do is developed, prototyped, machined, anodized and assembled on site." Pro 5 hub shells are "Machined from forged 2014 T6 Aluminum billet" with "Sealed stainless Steel cartridge bearings throughout", and every hub is "Fully serviceable and rebuildable with simple tools." Hope's About page cites almost 100 staff and 55 CNC machines; a June 2025 factory report counted 80 CNC machines and about 140 employees and stated "Random components are plucked from production and tested in the company's in-house fatigue and destructive testing facilities." A Renishaw case study quotes Hope's operations manager: "We take components off the line on a regular basis for sample measurement on the CMM", with output of 70,000 wheel hubs a year. Hope publishes no ISO 4210 or salt-spray figures.

Warranty and service: "Hope Technology components (excluding the frame and bearings) are warrantied for a period of 2 years from purchase, to the original customer"; improper use, accidental damage or modification invalidates it. Hope states "Each and every part is replaceable - no matter how small" and still holds spares for everything it has made.

Hope publishes those results; ProWheelBuilder builds the hub into a wheel and does not test it in a lab.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

Hope makes the Fatsno; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Spokes are cut from the ERD we measure on the actual rim, the wheel comes up in stages on a tensiometer, and it is stress-relieved and trued before it goes in the box; tape and a valve go on if you ask.

The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.

Warranty

Manufacturer's warranty. Hope warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Hope and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.

ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.

Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.

Pro 4 Fat SNO Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub questions

Will my rotors fit this hub?

This is the 6-bolt version: any ISO 6-bolt rotor bolts straight on with six T25 bolts, which is still the most common and the easiest rotor to replace anywhere. Centerlock rotors do not fit it - for those, take the centerlock version of the same hub, listed separately.

What spacing is the Fatsno?

150mm front and 170, 177 or 197mm rear, selectable in the configurator.

Is the Fatsno good for winter?

Yes. Hope's sealed stainless bearings and seals are designed for British mud and wet, and a clean and regrease each spring keeps it happy.

Which colors?

Hope's anodized range: black, silver, red, blue, orange and purple among them; the colors in stock are listed in the configurator.

Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Hope Pro 4 Fat SNO Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub?

We are not. Hope manufactures the hub; ProWheelBuilder's part is the wheel: measuring, lacing, tensioning and truing it here in Georgia.

Which axle spacing does it fit?

QR 5x135mm Front or Thru Axle 15x135mm Front or Thru Axle 15x142mm Front or Thru Axle 15x150mm Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.

Does it need special spokes?

No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
