Industry Nine Solix CL Rear Centerlock Disc Hub

The Industry Nine SOLiX is the hub Industry Nine built for road, gravel and cross-country after years of riders asking for a Hydra that was lighter and quieter. It has five phased pawls on a 121-tooth drive ring for 605 points of engagement, 0.59 degrees, a new preload method with matched hubshell bearings, and freehub bearings with up to 233% more load capacity than the old Torch hub. It weighs about 110 grams front and 232 grams rear, comes in 24 and 28 hole with centerlock rotor mounts, and is machined and anodized in Asheville, North Carolina, in every Industry Nine color. This page covers the Industry Nine Solix CL Rear Centerlock Disc Hub.

The SOLiX is built to order here. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator; the wheel leaves Georgia laced, tensioned and trued.

Design and construction

The SOLiX takes Industry Nine's phased-pawl idea, five pawls at slightly different angles so only one or two engage at once, and pairs it with a 121-tooth ring, which gives 605 engagement points with a lighter, quieter freehub than the Hydra. The hubshell bearings are matched pairs set with a new preload system that makes the hub easy to adjust and keeps the bearings loaded correctly, and the freehub bearings grew substantially, which was the weak point on Industry Nine's earlier road hubs.

The shell is machined from aluminum bar with J-bend flanges, low and wide for a stiff road wheel, in 24 and 28 hole, centerlock only. Freehubs swap between Shimano HG and Micro Spline, SRAM XDR and Campagnolo N3W without tools. End caps cover 12mm thru-axle road and gravel standards and the Boost cross-country version.

How it rides

A SOLiX is the quietest fast-engaging hub Industry Nine has made, and on a road or gravel bike that matters; it coasts with a muted buzz rather than a swarm of bees. Engagement is instant for cyclocross starts and technical gravel climbs, the bearings roll freely, and the hub weighs no more than the boutique European road hubs it competes with.

We build the SOLiX for road, gravel, cyclocross and cross-country race wheels.

Which version this is

Version notes. Centerlock rotor mount, QR 5x135mm, Thru Axle 12x142mm, QR 5x141mm Boost, Thru Axle 12x148mm Boost, 24h, 28h, about 221g, in black, blue, bronze, gold, green, lime green, orange, pink, . If your frame or fork uses a different standard, the other versions of the SOLiX on this site cover it.

This is the centerlock SOLiX: the rotor sits on a spline and a lockring holds it, which saves weight over six bolts and makes swapping rotors a one-tool job. If your rotors are 6-bolt, a centerlock adapter fits them, or choose the 6-bolt version of the same hub.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

The Industry Nine Solix CL Rear Centerlock Disc Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page with the axle and driver options shown in the configurator. Centerlock rotors. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most SOLiX wheels with Sapim CX-Ray, CX-Sprint or Laser spokes or DT Aerolite and brass or alloy nipples.

It pairs naturally with ENVE SES and G-Series, Reserve, Nox Falkor and Citico, HED, Boyd and DT Swiss road and gravel rims that match its drilling. Tell the configurator your bike type and weight and it suggests a spoke count and lacing pattern to suit.

Build it with us

We build this hub to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the Industry 9 Solix Cl Rear Centerlock Disc Hub already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for gravel and road disc, touring and mountain bike builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.

Industry Nine's testing and certifications

Industry Nine states it "has been anodizing & machining hubs, spokes, and drive systems in Asheville, NC since 2004" and that it engineers and manufactures every component of its hub and wheel systems in-house, including hub shells, axles, spokes and anodizing: "If it moves inside an I9 hub, we made it." Coverage of the Hydra2 launch (March 2025) reports Industry Nine drew on data from over 100,000 Hydra hubs in use to redesign the hub, with a 65% thicker axle "engineered for superior stress dissipation", larger 6903 bearings throughout, a labyrinth channel and full-contact radial lip seals against contamination. Industry Nine publishes no bearing-cycle, salt-spray, ISO 4210 or laboratory test figures for its hubs.

Warranty: Industry Nine states "Hubs are covered for five years against defects in materials and workmanship." Years 0-2 include parts, labor and return shipping; in years 3-5 parts are covered and labor and shipping may apply. Warranties apply to the original purchaser only with proof of purchase from a certified dealer; bearings and other normal wear items are excluded. Industry Nine says service needs only basic tools, "no proprietary tools are required".

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

Industry Nine makes the SOLiX in Asheville, North Carolina; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. The build is the same every time: measured ERD, spokes cut to the half millimeter, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief, a final true, and tubeless tape and a valve on request.

The configurator shows only rims and spokes that fit the SOLiX drilling and color, strikes through combinations that are not made, and prices the wheel live.

Warranty

Industry Nine's warranty. Industry Nine covers its hubs against defects in materials and workmanship for five years from purchase, with two years on the anodized finish. Its alloy and carbon rims carry a lifetime defect warranty to the original purchaser, with parts, labor and return shipping covered for the first two years and parts thereafter. Bearing wear, impact and crash damage are not defects.

ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.

Solix CL Rear Centerlock Disc Hub questions

Will my rotors fit this hub?

This is the centerlock version, so a splined centerlock rotor drops on and a lockring holds it - one tool, no six bolts to torque or lose. If your rotors are 6-bolt they will fit with a centerlock adapter, or take the 6-bolt version of the same hub, which is a separate listing.

SOLiX or Hydra 2?

SOLiX for road, gravel, cyclocross and cross-country, where it is lighter and quieter; Hydra 2 for trail, enduro, downhill and e-bikes, where its bigger axle and bearings matter.

Which freehub bodies fit the SOLiX?

Shimano HG and Micro Spline, SRAM XDR and Campagnolo N3W, swappable without tools and selectable in the configurator.

Is the SOLiX loud?

It has a freehub buzz, like every Industry Nine hub, but it is noticeably quieter than the Hydra.

What is the SOLiX warranty?

Industry Nine covers materials and workmanship for two years; bearings and pawls are wear items we can service.

Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Industry Nine Solix CL Rear Centerlock Disc Hub?

No. The hub is made by Industry Nine; we are the wheel builder in Georgia who laces it into a finished wheel to your spec and stands behind the build.

Which axle spacing does it fit?

QR 5x135mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x142mm Rear or QR 5x141mm Boost Rear or Thru Axle 12x148mm Boost Rear. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
