Stan's No Tubes Universal 44mm Tubeless Road Valve Stem
The 44mm tubeless valve stem, for deeper rims. A road or gravel rim with any real section depth swallows most of a short valve, leaving too little thread for the lockring and barely enough stem for a pump head to seat on properly.
What it does
That shortage is not just inconvenient. A pump head that cannot seat squarely pulls on the valve as you inflate, and the valve is held in place by a rubber grommet rather than by the rim - so the thing that gives is the seal. Getting the length right removes a whole category of mysterious slow leaks.
Deeper rims also make the valve harder to find and harder to hold while you tighten the lockring, since you cannot reach it from inside. Seat the grommet before tightening and check the valve sits square to the rim rather than leaning.
Fit and compatibility
For deeper road, gravel and aero rim sections. Shallow mountain rims take the 35mm instead. Measure the rim depth if you are not sure which you need.
Buying it from ProWheelBuilder
ProWheelBuilder builds wheels in Georgia and is not the manufacturer - Stan's No Tubes makes this. It is on our bench most days, which is where the notes above come from.
Warranty
Stan's No Tubes's warranty. Stan's covers aluminum rims for two years against manufacturing defects. Registered carbon wheelsets carry seven years of warranty cover plus lifetime crash replacement, and registration must be completed before a wheelset claim can be made. Crash damage, abuse and normal wear are not warranty items.
ProWheelBuilder. Our own one-year warranty is a wheel warranty - it covers wheels we build, not tools or accessories. This item is covered by its manufacturer, as set out above.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Stan's 44mm tubeless valve stem questions
My rim is quite deep - will 44mm be enough?
For most road and gravel sections, yes. Very deep aero rims sometimes need longer again, or an extender. Tell us the rim and we will check.
Why does valve length cause leaks?
Because a pump head that cannot seat properly levers on the valve, and the valve is sealed by a rubber grommet against the rim bed. Lever on it enough and the seal moves.
Can I use these with any tubeless tire?
They are universal Presta valves for tubeless rims. The rim has to be taped properly for the grommet to seal against.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Stan's No Tubes Universal 44mm Tubeless Road Valve Stem?
No. Stan's No Tubes designs and manufactures it. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks it and uses it on the wheels we build.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
