Stan's No Tubes Tire Sealant 16oz
Stan's sealant is the liquid half of a tubeless system. It coats the inside of the tire and, when something puts a hole in it, the escaping air carries sealant to the hole and it plugs itself - usually before the rider notices anything beyond a brief hiss.
What it does
It is a consumable, and that is the part people forget. Sealant dries out over months, faster in heat and in a porous tire, and a tire full of dried latex is a tire with no protection at all even though it is holding air perfectly. Checking it periodically is the maintenance this system asks of you in exchange for not getting punctures.
The 16oz bottle is the sensible household size: enough to set up a few wheels and keep topping them up, without sitting on a shelf long enough to separate.
How much goes in a tire depends on the tire - a narrow road tire needs noticeably less than a wide mountain one. Shake the bottle first; the sealing particles settle out and the liquid alone will not do the job.
Fit and compatibility
For tubeless-ready tires and properly taped rims. It is not a repair for a tire with a cut beyond its sealing ability, and it is not a substitute for tape that does not seal.
Buying it from ProWheelBuilder
ProWheelBuilder builds wheels in Georgia and is not the manufacturer - Stan's No Tubes makes this. It is on our bench most days, which is where the notes above come from.
Warranty
Stan's No Tubes's warranty. Stan's covers aluminum rims for two years against manufacturing defects. Registered carbon wheelsets carry seven years of warranty cover plus lifetime crash replacement, and registration must be completed before a wheelset claim can be made. Crash damage, abuse and normal wear are not warranty items.
ProWheelBuilder. ProWheelBuilder's one-year wheel warranty covers the wheels we build and does not apply to tools and accessories, which carry their manufacturer's cover.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
Stan's tire sealant 16oz questions
How often should I top it up?
Check every few months and more often in hot weather. The test is whether you can hear and feel liquid moving in the tire - if it is silent, it has dried out.
Will it seal any puncture?
Small punctures, routinely. A large cut or a split sidewall needs a plug or a patch - sealant is for the thorn, not the gash.
16oz or 32oz?
16oz if you run a couple of bikes; 32oz if you are setting up several wheels or topping up regularly. Sealant does not improve with age, so buy what you will use.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Stan's No Tubes Tire Sealant 16oz?
No. Stan's No Tubes designs and manufactures it. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks it and uses it on the wheels we build.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
