White Industries ENO Axle Removal Tool
The dedicated tool for removing the axle from a White Industries ENO hub. It is a small thing to own and an awkward job without, because the alternative is gripping a finished surface with something that was not designed to grip it.
Design and construction
The ENO is built to be serviced - bearings renewed, mechanism cleaned, the hub kept going for years rather than replaced. That service life only pays off if the parts survive being taken apart repeatedly, which is the argument for the proper tool: it engages where the axle is meant to be engaged, so you are not marking a bearing seat or rounding a flat.
About 30g, so it lives in a toolbox or a frame bag without complaint.
White Industries machine in-house in Petaluma, California, and have since Doug White founded the company in 1978. For a component this size the benefit is unglamorous and real: consistent tolerances, a part that can be taken apart and put back together, and spares that still exist years after you bought it.

ENO axle removal tool questions
Do I need this to service an ENO hub?
It is the tool the job is designed around. You can improvise, and people do, but a hub intended to last decades deserves better than a pair of grips.
Is this the same as the freewheel removal tool?
No - they are two different tools for two different parts. The freewheel remover takes the ENO freewheel off; this one deals with the axle.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the White Industries ENO Axle Removal Tool?
No. White Industries designs and manufactures it in Petaluma, California. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks the part and fits it to the wheels we build.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
