White Industries T11 Rear Hub

The White Industries T11 is the rim-brake road hub from Petaluma, California, and it is the hub we build most classic road wheels on. It is light without giving up durability: a machined 6061 shell with low flanges, Enduro sealed cartridge bearings, a titanium freehub body for Shimano 11-speed and a SRAM XDR option, 48 points of engagement, 100mm front and 130mm rear quick-release axles, and White Industries' anodized colors. This page covers the White Industries T11 Rear Hub.

The T11 comes from us only as a finished wheel: pick the rim, spokes and nipples, and we lace, tension and true it by hand in Georgia before it ships.

Design and construction

The T11 shell is machined from 6061 with deliberately low flanges, which is where its lightness comes from, and it runs Enduro sealed cartridge bearings with a titanium freehub body for Shimano 11-speed or SRAM XDR and 48 points of engagement. The titanium is the detail wheel builders care about: an aluminum freehub gets bitten by cassette cogs until the cassette is a fight to remove, and titanium simply does not.

The anodized colors are a deliberate part of the product rather than an afterthought, and they have real depth in daylight. They are matched across White Industries cranks, headsets and lockrings, so a build can be finished properly rather than ending up with one odd silver part.

How it rides

A T11 rolls as smoothly as any road hub made, engages quickly and quietly, and the titanium freehub means the cassette never marks it. It is the hub for a rim-brake road wheel on an HED Belgium R, H Plus Son Archetype, Velocity Quill or Mavic Open Pro that the customer intends to keep, and it comes in colors to match White Industries cranks and headsets.

About this listing

What sets this listing apart from the other T11 versions: rim-brake rotor mount, QR 5x130mm, QR 5x135mm, 20h, 24h, 28h, 32h, 36h drilling, about 252g, in polished, black, blue, gold, pink, purple, red. Pick the one that matches your frame and rotor and the rest of the hub is identical.

No rotor mount here: this is the rim-brake version of the T11, which drops the disc flange and the weight that goes with it. It suits rim-brake road, touring and track frames and it is often the lightest hub in the family. Disc-brake frames need one of the disc versions listed separately.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

The White Industries T11 Rear Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page in 100mm front and 130mm rear quick-release spacing with a Shimano HG titanium or SRAM XDR freehub. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most T11 wheels with Sapim CX-Ray, Laser or Race spokes or DT Aerolite and Competition and brass or alloy nipples.

It pairs naturally with the HED Belgium R, H Plus Son Archetype and Hydra, Velocity Quill, Fusion and A23, Mavic Open Pro UST and Boyd Altamont rim-brake rims. Pick road as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern.

Build it with us

We build this hub to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the White Industries T11 Rear Hub already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for road rim brake and touring builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.

Testing, standards and warranty at White Industries

White Industries states that every hub is CNC-machined, hand-assembled, and inspected in its Petaluma, California facility, keeping “machining, assembly, quality control, and operations under one roof”. Founded in 1978 with about 20 employees, the company says it has been designing, machining, assembling, and testing components in Northern California for more than four decades in a 100% solar-powered shop using domestically sourced raw materials. It publishes no load, fatigue, or salt-spray test figures.

The Warranty & Returns page states a limited five-year warranty to the original owner, excluding normal wear, misuse, improper installation, and labor; proof of purchase is required and return shipping is covered within 90 days of purchase. Older instruction pages still cite one year, with bearings 60 days.

CLD and T11 rear hubs use a 6Al-4V titanium freehub body, 3 heat-treated steel pawls with stainless steel leaf springs, and 48-tooth (7.5-degree) engagement on a heat-treated black-oxide 4130 steel axle. Freehub bodies are interchangeable; service instructions say pawl pockets get light oil or dry lube, never grease.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

White Industries makes the T11; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. We measure the rim before we cut a spoke, bring the wheel up in three or four rounds with a gauge, stress-relieve it between rounds and true it last, then tape it and fit a valve if you want it tubeless.

Only compatible hubs and spokes appear in the configurator, impossible combinations are struck through rather than hidden, and the price is live.

Warranty

Manufacturer's warranty. White Industries warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by White Industries and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.

ProWheelBuilder. Built into a wheel by us, this part is covered by our own one-year wheel warranty on top of the maker's. For a year we replace broken spokes whatever caused them, and we cover the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild if it needs one. If a rim or hub fails and its maker covers it, we run that claim for you; if the maker says no, you get an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off retail. You pay the shipping each way. Wheels built from parts you send us are excluded.

Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.

T11 Rear Hub questions

Can I use this hub with disc brakes?

No - this is the rim-brake version and it has no rotor mount at all, which is exactly why it is lighter and simpler. It is the one for a rim-brake road, track or classic frame. A disc frame needs one of the disc versions of this hub, which are listed separately.

Is the T11 disc compatible?

No. It is a rim-brake road hub; the CLD is White Industries' centerlock disc hub.

Which freehub bodies fit the T11?

Shimano HG 11-speed in titanium and SRAM XDR, selectable in the configurator.

What spoke counts suit the T11?

20 to 28 front and 24 to 32 rear depending on rider weight; the configurator recommends.

Does the T11 come in colors?

Yes. White Industries anodises it in a range of colors that match its cranks and headsets.

Which axle spacing does it fit?

QR 5x130mm Rear or QR 5x135mm Rear. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.

Does it need special spokes?

No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
