White Industries T11 Front Hub

The White Industries T11 is the rim-brake road hub from Petaluma, California, and it is the hub we build most classic road wheels on. This page covers the White Industries T11 Front Hub.

The T11 is sold here only inside a wheel we build. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.

Design and construction

The anodized colors are a deliberate part of the product rather than an afterthought, and they have real depth in daylight.

A front hub is a bearing carrier with flanges, and that is the whole job of the front T11: two sealed bearings on a stiff axle, end caps for your fork's standard, and flanges spaced to give the spokes a good bracing angle on the rotor side. There is nothing to engage and nothing to swap. Everything written about freehubs and engagement applies to the rear hub only; what you get up front is the same shell quality and the same seals without any of the moving parts.

How it rides

It is the hub for a rim-brake road wheel on an HED Belgium R, H Plus Son Archetype, Velocity Quill or Mavic Open Pro that the customer intends to keep, and it comes in colors to match White Industries cranks and headsets.

Front wheels on disc bikes take a beating from braking: the rotor side sees the whole braking torque and the spokes on that side run at higher tension. That is why we build the front T11 with the rotor-side spokes crossed and tensioned to the rim's limit, and why the hub's flange spacing matters more than its weight. Ridden on a rim-brake bike the same hub makes one of the lightest, simplest front wheels there is.

This version

This version is the rim-brake hub in QR 5x100mm, drilled for 16h, 18h, 20h, 24h, 28h, 32h, about 97g, in polished, black, blue, gold, pink, purple, red. Those are the only things that differ between the versions of the T11; the shell, bearings and seals are the same.

No rotor mount here: this is the rim-brake version of the T11, which drops the disc flange and the weight that goes with it. It suits rim-brake road, touring and track frames and it is often the lightest hub in the family. Disc-brake frames need one of the disc versions listed separately.

Sizes, fit and compatibility

J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most T11 wheels with Sapim CX-Ray, Laser or Race spokes or DT Aerolite and Competition and brass or alloy nipples.

It pairs naturally with the HED Belgium R, H Plus Son Archetype and Hydra, Velocity Quill, Fusion and A23, Mavic Open Pro UST and Boyd Altamont rim-brake rims. Pick road as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern.

Build it into a wheel

This hub is live in our Custom Wheel Program for road rim brake, track and road single-speed and touring builds. Start a build with the White Industries T11 Front Hub and the configurator opens with this exact hub pinned at the top of the White Industries list — you choose the rest of the parts and it validates every combination as you go.

How White Industries tests its hubs

White Industries states that every hub is CNC-machined, hand-assembled, and inspected in its Petaluma, California facility, keeping “machining, assembly, quality control, and operations under one roof”. Founded in 1978 with about 20 employees, the company says it has been designing, machining, assembling, and testing components in Northern California for more than four decades in a 100% solar-powered shop using domestically sourced raw materials. It publishes no load, fatigue, or salt-spray test figures.

White Industries states it has partnered with Enduro on bearings since 1996. Shells are 6061-T6 aluminum, polished then anodized; bearing preload is adjustable and hubs are described as easily serviceable and rebuildable. Weights: CLD front 146 g, CLD rear 280 g, T11 rear 248 g.

Everything in this section is published by White Industries. ProWheelBuilder is the wheel builder, not the tester, and the hub reaches us as the maker ships it.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder

White Industries makes the T11; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Spokes are cut from the ERD we measure on the actual rim, the wheel comes up in stages on a tensiometer, and it is stress-relieved and trued before it goes in the box; tape and a valve go on if you ask.

The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.

Warranty

Manufacturer's warranty. White Industries warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by White Industries and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.

ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.

Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.

T11 Front Hub questions

Can I use this hub with disc brakes?

No - this is the rim-brake version and it has no rotor mount at all, which is exactly why it is lighter and simpler. It is the one for a rim-brake road, track or classic frame. A disc frame needs one of the disc versions of this hub, which are listed separately.

Is the T11 disc compatible?

No. It is a rim-brake road hub; the CLD is White Industries' centerlock disc hub.

What spoke counts suit the T11?

20 to 28 front and 24 to 32 rear depending on rider weight; the configurator recommends.

Does the T11 come in colors?

Yes. White Industries anodises it in a range of colors that match its cranks and headsets.

Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the White Industries T11 Front Hub?

No. The hub is made by White Industries; we are the wheel builder in Georgia who laces it into a finished wheel to your spec and stands behind the build.

Which axle spacing does it fit?

QR 5x100mm Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.

Does it need special spokes?

No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.

Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
