White Industries XMR Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub
The White Industries XMR is the 6-bolt disc hub from Petaluma, California, and the letters tell you what it is for: Cross, Mountain, Road. The XMR+ covers Boost spacing. This page covers the White Industries XMR Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub.
The XMR is sold here only inside a wheel we build. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator and the finished wheel ships from Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The XMR is cut from 6061 bar in Petaluma around a 17mm front axle and a 15mm rear, which is what lets one hub cover so many frames: the front converts between 9 x 100 quick release, 12 x 100 and 15 x 100 thru-axle on end caps alone, and the rear between 10 x 135 quick release and 12 x 142.
White Industries recycles every aluminum chip the machining produces rather than scrapping it, which is the sort of housekeeping a shop only bothers with when it owns the whole process.
This is the front hub, and a front hub has no freehub. What matters here is the part of the hub that carries the wheel: the bearings, the seals, the axle and the two flanges, and the front XMR shares all of them with its rear partner. It is the simpler half of the pair and the one that runs longest between services. The driver and engagement story belongs on the rear hub's page; this page is about a front wheel that spins freely, stays sealed and builds stiff.
How it rides
It is the hub we suggest for a 6-bolt disc bike that wants an American-made hub in a color; for centerlock rotors the CLD is the same hub with a different mount.
Front wheels on disc bikes take a beating from braking: the rotor side sees the whole braking torque and the spokes on that side run at higher tension. That is why we build the front XMR with the rotor-side spokes crossed and tensioned to the rim's limit, and why the hub's flange spacing matters more than its weight. Ridden on a rim-brake bike the same hub makes one of the lightest, simplest front wheels there is.

This version
This version is the 6-bolt hub in QR 5x100mm, Thru Axle 12x100mm, Thru Axle 15x100mm, drilled for 24h, 28h, 32h, 36h, 40h, about 180g, in polished, black, blue, gold, pink, purple, red. Those are the only things that differ between the versions of the XMR; the shell, bearings and seals are the same.
This is the 6-bolt XMR: the rotor bolts to a flange with six T25 bolts, which is the mount most mountain and gravel rotors still use and the easiest to find a rotor for on the road. If you run centerlock rotors, choose the centerlock version of the same hub instead.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most XMR and XMR+ wheels with Sapim Race, D-Light or CX-Ray spokes or DT Competition and brass nipples.
It pairs naturally with Stan's, WTB, DT Swiss, Velocity, Nox and Reserve rims that match its drilling. The configurator recommends spoke count and lacing from your bike type and weight.
Build it with us
We build this hub to order. Open the Custom Wheel Program with the White Industries XMR Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub already selected and pick the parts around it; it is offered for gravel and road disc, tandem and e-bike, track and road single-speed, mountain bike, MTB single-speed, fat bike and touring builds, and the configurator will not let you assemble a combination we would not build.
How White Industries tests its hubs
White Industries states that every hub is CNC-machined, hand-assembled, and inspected in its Petaluma, California facility, keeping “machining, assembly, quality control, and operations under one roof”. Founded in 1978 with about 20 employees, the company says it has been designing, machining, assembling, and testing components in Northern California for more than four decades in a 100% solar-powered shop using domestically sourced raw materials. It publishes no load, fatigue, or salt-spray test figures.
The Warranty & Returns page states a limited five-year warranty to the original owner, excluding normal wear, misuse, improper installation, and labor; proof of purchase is required and return shipping is covered within 90 days of purchase. Older instruction pages still cite one year, with bearings 60 days.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
White Industries makes the XMR; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Spokes are cut from the ERD we measure on the actual rim, the wheel comes up in stages on a tensiometer, and it is stress-relieved and trued before it goes in the box; tape and a valve go on if you ask.
The configurator filters to what fits, crosses out what is not made, and prices the build as you go.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. White Industries warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by White Industries and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Lace this into a wheel here and the finished wheel gets our own one-year warranty as well as the maker's. For twelve months we replace broken spokes however they broke, and the work on the wheel is on us - truing, re-tensioning, a rebuild where it is needed. If the rim or hub is covered by its manufacturer we put the claim in and chase it; if it is not, we supply an eligible replacement rim or hub at 25% off the current retail price. Carriage both ways is the customer's, and this does not cover wheels built from parts you send in.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
XMR Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub questions
Will my rotors fit this hub?
This is the 6-bolt version: any ISO 6-bolt rotor bolts straight on with six T25 bolts, which is still the most common and the easiest rotor to replace anywhere. Centerlock rotors do not fit it - for those, take the centerlock version of the same hub, listed separately.
Which spokes and nipples suit the XMR?
For most riders a double-butted spoke such as Sapim Race or DT Competition with brass nipples; lighter riders can go to Sapim Laser or CX-Ray. The configurator recommends a gauge and count for the XMR from your bike type and weight.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the White Industries XMR Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub?
No. White Industries makes the hub. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia that builds it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
QR 5x100mm Front or Thru Axle 12x100mm Front or Thru Axle 15x100mm Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
Does it need special spokes?
No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
How long will the wheel take?
Build time comes down to parts availability rather than bench time. The estimated ship date is shown in the configurator before you check out.
