Bitex FB MTF Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub
The Bitex FB MTF is the fat-bike version of Bitex's mountain front hub: the same machined aluminum shell, sealed cartridge bearings and 6-bolt rotor mount, spaced for a 150mm fat fork with a 15mm thru-axle. Fat-bike hubs from the boutique makers cost as much as a good rim; the FB MTF costs a fraction of that and does the job, which is why it is the front hub on a lot of the fat wheels we build. This page covers the Bitex FB MTF Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub.
The FB MTF is built to order here. Choose the rim, spokes and nipples in the configurator; the wheel leaves Georgia laced, tensioned and trued.
Design and construction
A front hub is two bearings, an axle and a pair of flanges, and the MTF does each properly: sealed cartridge bearings in common sizes that any shop can replace, a hollow alloy axle with swappable end caps, and flanges spaced wide for the rotor side so the wheel is laterally stiff. The shell is machined from aluminum and anodized black. Bitex pairs it with the MTR rear hub, and the FB MTF is the fat-bike version.
This is the front hub, and a front hub has no freehub. What matters here is the part of the hub that carries the wheel: the bearings, the seals, the axle and the two flanges, and the front FB MTF fat bike shares all of them with its rear partner. It is the simpler half of the pair and the one that runs longest between services. The driver and engagement story belongs on the rear hub's page; this page is about a front wheel that spins freely, stays sealed and builds stiff.
How it rides
An FB MTF front wheel spins freely and shrugs off slush and salt with a clean and regrease each spring. There is nothing to go wrong in a front hub except the bearings, and these are sealed and cheap. The FB MTF builds into a stiff fat front wheel on a HED, DT Swiss BR 710 or Sun Ringle rim.
Front wheels on disc bikes take a beating from braking: the rotor side sees the whole braking torque and the spokes on that side run at higher tension. That is why we build the front FB MTF fat bike with the rotor-side spokes crossed and tensioned to the rim's limit, and why the hub's flange spacing matters more than its weight. Ridden on a rim-brake bike the same hub makes one of the lightest, simplest front wheels there is.

Which version this is
Version notes. 6-bolt rotor mount, Thru Axle 15x150mm, 32h, about 238g, in black. If your frame or fork uses a different standard, the other versions of the FB MTF fat bike on this site cover it.
This is the 6-bolt FB MTF fat bike: the rotor bolts to a flange with six T25 bolts, which is the mount most mountain and gravel rotors still use and the easiest to find a rotor for on the road. If you run centerlock rotors, choose the centerlock version of the same hub instead.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Bitex FB MTF Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page in 150 x 15mm thru-axle spacing with a 6-bolt rotor mount. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most fat wheels with Sapim Race or DT Competition spokes and brass nipples.
It pairs with the Bitex FB MTR rear, and with the HED Big Aluminum Deal, DT Swiss BR 710, Sun Ringle Mulefut and Surly fat rims in the catalog. Pick fat bike as your bike type in the configurator and it recommends a spoke count and lacing pattern for the offset.
Build it into a wheel
This hub is live in our Custom Wheel Program for MTB single-speed and fat bike builds. Start a build with the Bitex Fb Mtf Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub and the configurator opens with this exact hub pinned at the top of the Bitex list — you choose the rest of the parts and it validates every combination as you go.

Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Bitex makes the FB MTF fat bike; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. The build is the same every time: measured ERD, spokes cut to the half millimeter, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief, a final true, and tubeless tape and a valve on request.
The configurator shows only rims and spokes that fit the FB MTF fat bike drilling, strikes through combinations that are not made, and prices the wheel live.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Bitex warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Bitex and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Our one-year wheel warranty applies to any wheel we build around this part, alongside whatever the manufacturer offers. Inside that year, broken spokes are replaced no matter how they broke, and the wheel labor is ours - truing, re-tensioning or a full rebuild. A rim or hub failure that the maker covers, we claim for you and see through; one the maker declines, we answer with an eligible replacement at 25% off current retail. Shipping both ways is yours, and components you supply yourself fall outside this cover.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
FB MTF Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub questions
Will my rotors fit this hub?
This is the 6-bolt version: any ISO 6-bolt rotor bolts straight on with six T25 bolts, which is still the most common and the easiest rotor to replace anywhere. Centerlock rotors do not fit it - for those, take the centerlock version of the same hub, listed separately.
Which spokes and nipples suit the FB MTF fat bike?
For most riders a double-butted spoke such as Sapim Race or DT Competition with brass nipples; lighter riders can go to Sapim Laser or CX-Ray. The configurator recommends a gauge and count for the FB MTF fat bike from your bike type and weight.
What bearings does the MTF use?
Sealed cartridge bearings in common sizes, replaceable at any shop.
Who is Bitex?
A Taiwanese hub maker that supplies many wheel brands; the MTF sold under its own name is the same hub without the brand markup.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Bitex FB MTF Front ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub?
No. Bitex makes the hub. ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia that builds it into a finished wheel to your spec.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
Thru Axle 15x150mm Front. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
Does it need special spokes?
No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
