Bitex MTR Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub
The Bitex MTR is the rear half of Bitex's classic mountain-bike disc hubset: a machined aluminum shell with J-bend flanges, sealed cartridge bearings, a pawl freehub that engages promptly and swaps between Shimano HG, SRAM XD and Micro Spline bodies, an ISO 6-bolt rotor mount and end caps for quick release, 12 x 142 and 12 x 148 Boost. It is one of the lightest 6-bolt rear hubs at its price, and it is the rear hub we suggest for cross-country, trail and gravel wheels when the budget should go into the rim. This page covers the Bitex MTR Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub.
The MTR is not sold bare. You choose the rim and the rest of the build in the configurator, and it ships from our shop in Georgia laced, tensioned and trued by hand.
Design and construction
The MTR freehub runs pawls on a hardened ratchet ring for quick pickup with a light, even feel, and the bodies pull off for a swap between HG, XD and Micro Spline. Bearings are sealed cartridge units in common sizes; the axle is hollow alloy with swappable end caps; the flanges are spaced wide on the drive side for a stiff wheel. The shell is machined and anodized black, and the FB MTR is the fat-bike version.
How it rides
An MTR engages quickly enough for technical climbing without the drag or noise of a super-high-count freehub, and the bearings spin cleanly out of the box. It is a cross-country, trail and gravel hub; for enduro, downhill or e-bike torque we would recommend a heavier-duty hub. For everyday off-road riding at a fair price, the MTR is a Bitex hub we recommend.

This listing
This is the 6-bolt version: QR 5x135mm, Thru Axle 10x135mm, Thru Axle 12x135mm, Thru Axle 12x142mm and more, 24h, 28h, 32h drilling, about 278g, in black, silver. Same internals and flanges as every other MTR; only the mount and axle differ.
Six-bolt is the original disc mount and still the most universal: any ISO 6-bolt rotor from any brand bolts straight on, rotors are cheap and easy to find anywhere, and the six-bolt flange is a robust, simple interface that has been on mountain bikes for twenty-five years. Centerlock rotors do not fit it.
Sizes, fit and compatibility
The Bitex MTR Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub comes in the drillings listed on this page with the axle and driver options shown in the configurator. Six-bolt rotors. J-bend spokes in any gauge; we build most MTR wheels with Sapim Race or DT Competition spokes and brass nipples.
It pairs naturally with the Bitex MTF front, and with Stan's Crest and Arch, WTB KOM, DT Swiss M 462 and XM 421, KinLin TL and Velocity Blunt rims that match its drilling. Give the configurator your bike type and weight; it picks a sensible spoke count and lacing pattern, which you can override.
Build it into a wheel
This hub is live in our Custom Wheel Program for gravel and road disc, touring, tandem and e-bike and mountain bike builds. Start a build with the Bitex Mtr Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub and the configurator opens with this exact hub pinned at the top of the Bitex list — you choose the rest of the parts and it validates every combination as you go.
What Bitex says about testing
Bitex Industrial Co., Ltd. is a hub manufacturer in Taichung, Taiwan. Its 2023 catalog is titled "HUB FACTORY / MADE IN TAIWAN" and marks "100 Years 1923 ~ 2023", tracing the business from the Valisum Bike Shop (1923) to its renaming as Bitex Industrial Co., Ltd.. Bitex states its hubs use aluminum shells (the BX305 road hubs are listed as "Aluminum 7075"), and each catalog page lists the exact cartridge bearings fitted, for example "2 (6803*2)" in a gravel front hub and "4 (Hub 6902*2 / Freehub 6802+6902)" in the matching rear. Bitex's UK distributor states standard fitment is TPI bearings with an orange contact seal outboard and a black non-contact seal inboard.
Bitex states the six-pawl freehub uses "Two sets of three pawls - six in total" for a "reduction in distance between points of engagement by 50%", giving 54HD (27T) engagement on MTB bodies and 48HD (24T) on road bodies. The Anti-Bite System adds "three small, hardened stainless splines" to alloy Shimano bodies to stop cassette gouging. Catalog freehub weights run 65g to 80g (±5g) for aluminum Shimano 11s bodies, 106g to 111g for titanium and 127g to 160g for steel; e-bike rears such as the BX215R use steel freehub bodies and 6903-size shell bearings.

The figures, certificates and media above are Bitex's own. ProWheelBuilder does not run these tests; our part is the wheel we build on the hub.
Building it at ProWheelBuilder
Bitex makes the MTR; ProWheelBuilder is an independent custom wheel builder in Georgia and not the manufacturer. Every MTR wheel we build gets spokes cut from the measured ERD of the rim, staged tensioning with a gauge, stress relief and a final true before it ships.
In the configurator you will only see parts that fit this drilling; combinations that are not made are struck through, and the price updates as you pick.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty. Bitex warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship. The duration, conditions and claim process are set by Bitex and can change without notice, so ask us and we will confirm the current terms before you buy.
ProWheelBuilder. Wheels we build around this part are covered by our own one-year warranty alongside the maker's. Within the year: broken spokes replaced regardless of cause, and the labor on the wheel - truing, re-tensioning or a complete rebuild - included. A manufacturer-covered rim or hub failure is a claim we make and manage for you; one they will not cover is answered with an eligible replacement at 25% off retail. Shipping each way is yours. Parts you supply yourself fall outside it.
Full terms are on our Policies & Warranty page.
MTR Rear ISO 6 Bolt Disc Hub questions
Will my rotors fit this hub?
This is the 6-bolt version: any ISO 6-bolt rotor bolts straight on with six T25 bolts, which is still the most common and the easiest rotor to replace anywhere. Centerlock rotors do not fit it - for those, take the centerlock version of the same hub, listed separately.
Which freehub bodies fit the MTR?
Shimano HG, SRAM XD and Shimano Micro Spline, selectable in the configurator.
Which axle standards fit the MTR?
Quick release, 12 x 142 and 12 x 148 Boost with end caps, selectable in the configurator.
Is the MTR e-bike rated?
No. For e-bikes choose a hub with a full-contact or steel-reinforced freehub such as a DT Swiss 350 or Hope Pro 5.
MTR or BX 211?
Both are Bitex 6-bolt disc rears. The MTR is the classic, lighter design; the BX 211 is the newer hub with a slightly stouter shell.
Which axle spacing does it fit?
QR 5x135mm Rear or Thru Axle 10x135mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x135mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x142mm Rear or Thru Axle 12x142mm Rear STEEL. Measure between the inside faces of your dropouts if you are unsure, or text us.
Does it need special spokes?
No. It takes standard J-bend spokes, which the configurator offers in every gauge and finish we stock.
