White Industries Center Lock Disc Lockring

The lockring that secures a Center Lock rotor to a White Industries Center Lock hub. Center Lock replaces the six small bolts of an ISO rotor with one splined ring, which is quicker to fit, holds the rotor more evenly, and removes six fasteners that could work loose.

Design and construction

It comes in two spline patterns and they are not interchangeable in the toolbox. The internal spline version is driven by a cassette lockring tool - the same one you already own for fitting a cassette. The external spline version is driven by a bottom-bracket style external tool. Both do the same job; pick the one that matches the tool you have, or tell us which you would rather use.

There is also a reason to care what it looks like. A Center Lock lockring sits on the outside of the hub flange where it is visible, and this one is offered in seven finishes - black, blue, gold, polished silver, purple, red and stealth black - so it can match the hub rather than being the one silver part on a colored build. White Industries treat their anodized colors as a real part of the product rather than an afterthought, and they offer this lockring in the full range precisely so a build can be finished properly.

Everything White Industries sells is cut in Petaluma, California, in the shop Doug White opened in 1978. Keeping the machining in-house is what lets them hold tolerances on a part this small and keep supporting it long after it was sold; it also means the box it arrives in is recyclable, which is the sort of detail that follows from caring about the rest.

Fit and compatibility

For Center Lock rotors on White Industries Center Lock hubs. Choose internal or external spline to suit your tools, and the finish to suit the hub. If we are building the wheel, we will fit and torque it for you.

Center Lock disc lockring questions

Internal or external spline - which should I pick?

Whichever matches a tool you already have. Internal uses a cassette lockring tool; external uses a bottom-bracket style tool. Mechanically they are equivalent.

Does the color affect anything but looks?

No. All seven finishes are the same part; the finish is there so the lockring can match the hub.

Will it fit a six-bolt rotor?

No - six-bolt and Center Lock are different rotor mounts entirely. This is the Center Lock part.

Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the White Industries Center Lock Disc Lockring?

No. White Industries designs and manufactures it in Petaluma, California. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks the part and fits it to the wheels we build.

Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
