White Industries SRAM XD/XDR TI Cassette Driver Body

The titanium XD/XDR driver body for White Industries rear hubs. SRAM's XD interface solved the small-sprocket problem a different way from Shimano: instead of splining the cassette onto the body, the cassette threads onto it, which frees up the diameter a 10-tooth sprocket needs. XDR is the same interface made slightly longer for road and gravel hubs.

Design and construction

A threaded interface spreads the drive load differently from a splined one, but it is still the body that takes it, and it still wears. Titanium holds the thread form and the driveside shoulder better than aluminum does, so cassettes keep threading on and off cleanly instead of gradually becoming a fight. It is the sort of part you notice only when it has been chosen badly.

Everything White Industries sells is cut in Petaluma, California, in the shop Doug White opened in 1978. Keeping the machining in-house is what lets them hold tolerances on a part this small and keep supporting it long after it was sold; it also means the box it arrives in is recyclable, which is the sort of detail that follows from caring about the rest.

Fit and compatibility

White Industries list it as driver type SRAM XD/XDR, part DRIVER15TXDR, about 85g. The same body covers both XD and XDR cassettes - the difference between the two standards is handled at the cassette and the hub's overall width, not by two different drivers.

SRAM XD XDR TI cassette driver body questions

Is XD the same as XDR?

They share the threaded interface. XDR is the road and gravel version and is a touch longer than the mountain XD; cassettes are sold for one or the other. This driver body is the XD/XDR type - match the cassette to your hub's spacing and you are fine.

Can I fit an HG cassette to it?

No. XD/XDR cassettes thread on; HG cassettes slide onto splines. They are different interfaces and need different driver bodies - which is precisely why the driver body is replaceable.

Will this fit my White Industries hub?

It fits the White Industries rear hubs built around their 15mm driver interface, which covers the current freehub-equipped models. If you are unsure which driver your hub already has, send us the hub and we will tell you, or text us and describe it.

Can I change driver standards later?

That is the point of a replaceable driver body. Changing drivetrain brand or speed count does not mean a new hub - it means a new driver body, which is a workshop job of minutes rather than a rebuild.

Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the White Industries SRAM XD/XDR TI Cassette Driver Body?

No. White Industries designs and manufactures it in Petaluma, California. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks the part and fits it to the wheels we build.
