DT Swiss RWS Titanium Road Front Skewer
The DT Swiss front road skewer, in titanium. It closes by threading rather than by a cam flipping over center, which changes two things: the clamping force is set by how far you thread it rather than by how someone adjusted the nut, and the lever can then be folded to any position you like.
What it does
RWS stands for Ratchet Wheel System: instead of a cam flipping over center, the lever threads the axle closed. Clamping force comes from how far you thread it, not from how someone set the nut, and the lever then folds wherever suits.
On a disc bike this matters more than it did on rim brakes. Braking torque works against the axle retention rather than the rim, so a consistent, properly set clamp is doing real work rather than just holding the wheel in place.
DT Swiss has been making spokes in Biel, Switzerland since the business was carved out of the old Swiss wire works, and the engineering culture shows most in the dull parts: threads that are rolled rather than cut, tolerances that let a part be serviced instead of replaced, and spares that still exist for hubs sold a decade ago.
Fit and compatibility
Made for a 100mm front road hub. Send us the frame and hub details if you want it checked before you order.
How we use it at ProWheelBuilder
We fit and check skewers on wheels leaving the shop, and a threaded closure is one less thing to explain - it either comes up solid or it does not.
ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia. DT Swiss designs and manufactures this; we use it, we stock it, and we are happy to say whether it is the one you need before you buy it.
Warranty
DT Swiss's warranty. DT Swiss covers its products against material and manufacturing defects for 24 months from purchase, excluding wear parts such as bearings and tubeless tape. Carbon rims and carbon wheels bought new since 1 January 2020 carry an extended guarantee to the first owner against defects in material and workmanship, and DT Swiss runs a paid crash-replacement scheme on carbon wheels for up to ten years from purchase.
ProWheelBuilder. Tools and accessories sit outside ProWheelBuilder's one-year wheel warranty, which applies to the wheels we lace. Cover for this item is the manufacturer's.

DT Swiss RWS Titanium Road Front Skewer questions
How tight should it be?
Firm by hand through the lever, not cranked. It threads closed, so you will feel it come up solid rather than snapping over center.
Does the lever position matter?
Only for convenience, which is the whole point. Thread it closed, then fold the lever clear of the rotor, the fork and anything else that might knock it.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the DT Swiss RWS Titanium Road Front Skewer?
No. DT Swiss designs and manufactures it. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks it and uses it on the wheels we build.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
