Salsa Stainless Skewers Front
Salsa's stainless front skewer. It is a quick release done properly: a stainless shaft rather than a hollow alloy one, a cam that closes with a definite action, and seven anodized colors because Salsa worked out a long time ago that the small parts are where a build gets its character.
What it does
Stainless matters more on a skewer than it might seem. A skewer lives in the weather, gets splashed with everything the front wheel picks up, and spends its life threaded into a nut that is also in the weather. A steel skewer that rusts is one that gets tighter every month until somebody rounds the nut off.
The seven colors are the reason most people buy them. Matching skewers to hubs, or to a frame's accents, is the kind of detail that makes a hand-built wheelset look deliberate rather than assembled, and it costs almost nothing.
Fit and compatibility
For a standard front quick-release hub. If you are having a front wheel built here, tell us the color and we will send the skewer with it.
Buying it from ProWheelBuilder
We are an independent wheel builder in Georgia, not Salsa Cycles. We buy this like you do; the difference is we go through a lot of it.

Salsa stainless front skewer questions
Front and rear are sold separately?
Yes - separate lengths for the front and rear hubs. Order both if you want a matched pair.
Is a stainless skewer heavier than alloy?
A little. It is also stronger and does not corrode, which on a part this small is usually the better trade.
Is ProWheelBuilder the manufacturer of the Salsa Stainless Skewers Front?
No. Salsa Cycles designs and manufactures it. ProWheelBuilder is an independent wheel builder in Georgia that stocks it and uses it on the wheels we build.
Not sure? Text or leave a voicemail on 470-253-0929 or email info@prowheelbuilder.com — you will be talking to the people who build the wheels.
